"What makes 'Shrek' so outstanding? It's how it boldly shows what previous animations haven't dared to. Shortly after the movie starts, we see Shrek make his entrance after finishing his business in the toilet. He then farts in a pond and later belches loudly, spewing fire. It's just one crude moment after the other.

The movie doesn't shy away from brutal depictions either. Frogs and snakes are inflated like balloons and sent flying into the sky. A bird that hears Princess Fiona's singing explodes from the high-pitched sound. She even cooks and eats the eggs left in the nest.

Despite the numerous risky scenes like this in 'Shrek', they're cleverly designed to avoid criticism for being absurd. For example, when Lord Farquaad tortures the living Gingerbread Man, the cookie's legs had already been torn off. He's then dunked into milk and ultimately thrown into the trash. This is pure violence which isn't suitable for children. But if you look at it objectively, it's just breaking a cookie, dipping it in milk, and throwing it away. There's nothing to get overly upset about."

@REALMadMax1960 Fun fact on why this happens, it's cause subtitlers are hired and contracted by language, it's different rates per language and to keep jobs open you just do what language you are hired in. companies are too cheap to also get Spanish subtitlers, so you end up with these scenarios
