This is your reminder that you can dislike a great deal about academia and still want to be an academic. You can want to dismantle the oppressive structure and still value the good that education and community can bring you. You are allowed both.
@DisabledDoctor This is why I really appreciate Alison Kafer's relational model! Because it looks at things in context and the ways they shift and change.
@caitlyn_yaede@dailytarheel Hey, I’m a grad student / professor. Proud of you all as students for being brave + making this powerful piece. I’m so sorry people in power are turning away from solutions, but please know you’re changing the world with your determination and bravery. We see you.
I'm a sex & dating coach but have mostly been silent about the Jonah Hill texts, choosing instead to amplify the female voices in this space who have said so much already. I didn't think I had much to add to the discourse... until now that is. An important thread:
@AmberlynWhite I think kids are slightly better than adults in general. They often haven’t yet learned bias and prejudice, and they look at the world with joy. Adults are told to let go of “childish” things, but I think we’d benefit from embracing much of it.
@ManWithoutDName@AmberlynWhite I kind of love this, especially considering it’s Disability Pride Month. For my ADHD I feel like it’d be a box opening to reveal SQUIRRELS GALORE! 🐿️ They’d be extra cute/fluffy. Because so am I.
It’s Disability Pride month!! Support and love on your disabled friends, family, creators a little extra this month ♥️ (and if that means me, the PayPal is “at” Strawdygrl)
Finally read through Batman: War on Crime by @thealexrossart and @Paul_Dini and seeing Batman in Ross’s beautiful art, paired with Dini’s beautiful words, makes my heart happy. Such a great creative duo—captured the soul of Batman for sure.
