I want to pay tribute to the families of those murdered in the Springhill/Westrock massacre by the British army who for more than five decades have campaigned for truth, justice and acknowledgement.
Despite obstacles, challenges and setbacks, they never gave up and never gave in.
Their dignity and resilience over the past 53 years has been nothing short of extraordinary.
The recent vindication in the courts, along with today’s apology by the British Prime Minister, stands as a testament to the families’ perseverance.
Today belongs to the victims of the Springhill/Westrock massacre, to their families, and to the people of West Belfast who stood shoulder to shoulder with them throughout this long and hard journey.
