Source: #49ers All-Pro WR Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade after an offseason of unsuccessful attempts to reach an extension.
Despite a recent meeting, the Niners haven’t been willing to engage in negotiations since May so Aiyuk has respectfully asked out.
The more I watch Hard Knocks the more I think Joe Schoen does a great job at running the ship, holding Mara accountable/not letting him rush into dumb decisions, negotiating trades, etc.
I just wish they’d adjust the scouting process a bit more to value upside over floor.
Ugly for the Giants.
Also no surprise Baltimore topped this list in Nick’s first tweet. Not a better draft/sign and develop organization out there than Baltimore
Teams with the fewest players currently under contract that entered the league via their team, as of 6/24/2024:

T-27. NYG/MIA: 77

Jermaine Eluemunor said he doesn’t care if he plays guard or tackle, he just wants to start. Eluemunor said he is focusing solely on LG now since that’s where the team put him. He said he has confidence in Evan Neal at RT.

ICYMI: Episode 23 of the StricklyNFL podcast released on all platforms yesterday!
I was joined by @Knickstape__ to discuss the Giants offseason moves, from FA to the draft….
And yes, what we would do in case of a Darren Waller retirement, which has now come true
Links ⬇️⬇️
So much hope for this move when it was made, seeing it crash and burn about 14 months later is tough.
I wish Darren Waller luck in his rap career. Now let’s use some of this money wisely.
Sources: #Giants TE Darren Waller has informed the team he plans to retire, walking away at the age of 31 after just one season with NYG.
Waller hasn’t attended workouts, and the team had known for some time he may not play. Now, he’s officially let them know before minicamp.
@DGoodmantrublu Either way I’m ok with it. I don’t think there’s a losing outcome to this scenario.
I do want atleast one cheap signing with the $. I want to and believe we can be competitive regardless of who’s under C this year.
This is a good point, however my counterpoint would be:
GVR last year made about $3M against the cap. I doubt he gets a big raise, if any at all, and NYG can target the cheapest vet S just to get a leader and extra body.
And we can still manipulate AT mid season.
Could still make some cap space by redoing ATs contract, but I don’t want to.
I’d personally target a mid tier S over a CB (Q. Diggs, M. Hyde, E. Jackson), and target another iOL (Gates, GVR). I’ve like GVR as a fit to NYG a lot this offseason bc of the Bricillo connection.
A Waller retirement would save the Giants $11.625M against the cap this year, and they currently have $1M in cap space.
Could be crucial if they want to go after one of the veteran S or CBs left. Those FA markets are still flush with talent.
The Broncos were significant less efficient with Jerry Jeudy on the field yet the Browns said “that’s ok we’ll pay him $52M after drafting Cedric Tillman and trading a third for Elijah Moore”
Total pressures when actually lined up as a true nose tackle over the last 2 years:
Dexter Lawrence: 81
Derrick Brown: 16
Christian Barmore: 16
Raekwon Davis: 15
Jordan Davis: 14
Lawrence doesn't get enough credit for the absolutely freaky stuff he does as a real nose tackle.
A lot of buzz around this clip, specifically about DJ taking a lot of time and checking down. Reality is nobody knows what went on or what the goal of the rep was. Fair to criticize him based on in game performance, but I don’t think one rep from OTAs deserves so much attention
Dianna Russini dropped an article with some really important notes:
• Jayden Daniels to the Commanders is “expected”
• Pats are a coin toss and any trade w/ them won’t happen until after they see Daniels off the board
• Minny apparently loves Drake Maye now
