Good morning from The Hague 🇳🇱
While Europe tries to cripple putin’s war economy with sanction after sanction, Dutch brand Spar keeps opening new supermarkets in russia.
Hundreds of stores. New openings in moscow this year. Sanctioned goods on the shelves.
@SPARInt claims they “can’t” terminate the old licensing contracts. Experts strongly disagree.
Ending the licences would: • Stop brand misuse & normalising aggression • Align with Dutch government policy (“unacceptable to do business in russia”) • Be fully possible under current EU law that better protects companies against russian claims
@ThijsReuten - time to push harder on this.‼️
Dutch brands should not profit from this war.
This must stop. Pls share.
Have a great day everyone.
Keep supporting Ukraine 🇺🇦

I'm old enough to remember the last time Russia tried its "little green men" strategy in Tallinn. Those people ended up handcuffed to the closest lamp post.
Every "the Baltics are next" post forgets that we have a lot of practice in dealing with Russian violence
