AMM in XRPL, how does it work? Many users do not understand how AMM works, in this article we tried to explain the main functions of AMM in the simplest possible language. An AMM pool is a set of two assets available for trading at a price formed by the pool. Liquidity is provided by the users themselves, earning a commission for each transaction affecting assets in the AMM pool. Unlike the familiar DEX, there are no limit orders. By adding liquidity, you do not choose at what price your tokens will be sold or purchased. The price in the AMM pool is formed by dividing the amount of frist asset in the pool by second asset. XRPL works in such a way that transactions on DEX and AMM are interconnected and when making a trade, the blockchain looks for the most profitable path for purchase (part of the order can be executed through DEX, and part through AMM, so that the average purchase price is the lowest). There are often times when the price of DEX and AMM differ greatly from each other, but no matter where you trade, XRPL will find the best way for you to purchase the asset. So, now it has become clearer how trading using AMM works (nothing changes for the trader, you just place an order, and the network finds the best path to buy. The only thing is that there is more data for analysis) How to become a liquidity provider in AMM pool? Before adding liquidity to a pool, make sure you trust this asset and understand what you are doing. Becoming a liquidity provider and earning a commission is not difficult (earnings directly depend on the trading volume in the pool). You select the pool you are interested in and make a deposit. After making a deposit to the AMM pool, assets are debited from your balance and LP tokens are credited (on the page of your wallet on Magentic they are clearly separated, and their approximate value when returned to the AMM pool is shown). These LP tokens indicate how much of the total assets in the pool you own. For example, if you have 10% of the total number of LP tokens, at any time you are entitled to 10% of the total number of assets in the AMM pool (in the future, due to commissions, the total number of assets will increase and thus your % of LP tokens will be mean a larger amount of assets upon withdrawal). Two-sided and one-sided deposits Problems with a one-way deposit and why you shouldn’t use it if you don’t know what you’re dealing with. Since the price of an asset in a pool is formed by dividing the amount of two assets by each other, with a one-way deposit, the ratio of assets and, accordingly, the price of the asset in the pool changes. Thus, you risk that some of your tokens will be bought back at a reduced price. For example: In the AMM pool 600 XRP and 1 MAG, price of 1 MAG = 600 XRP(600/1) You make a one-way deposit and add another 600 XRP to the pool. Now the price of 1 MAG = 1200 XRP (1200/1). Any user can sell their MAG for 1200 XRP. When you decide to withdraw of assets from the AMM pool, you will see that you will be able to withdraw less than what you deposited. In fact, 50% of your tokens were sold on the market through the AMM pool. Two-sided deposit There are no problems here, you send both assets to the pool and the amount of assets sent will never change the balance in the pool, thus you will never lose your funds on conversion and price changes due to the deposit. Two-sided deposit is the most optimal and best deposit option. Withdrawal of assets from the AMM pool Withdrawing your assets from the AMM pool means returning your LP tokens back to the pool, for which part of the total liquidity is returned to you. You can always receive from the pool as many % of assets as % of LP tokens from the total issue you have. How commissions work: For each trade in the AMM pool, a small % is taken as a commission and added to the AMM pool. These are assets for which LP tokens were not allocated, which means your share of LP tokens now means a larger share of real assets (since their amount in the AMM pool has increased without issuing additional LP tokens). When the problems of one-way deposits and withdrawals are not important: 1)You make a deposit or withdraw funds from a pool in which there is a lot of liquidity and your share takes up a very small percentage of the total. You won't feel like anything is wrong. Losses will be insignificant. 2)You intentionally make a one-way deposit/withdrawal to change the price of a token in the pool or for any other reasons. It is also possible for liquidity providers to vote on commissions in the pool, as well as participate in auctions to be able to trade without commissions for a certain time.
