Y'all, I have been very non-COVID sick for a couple of weeks now. I started some antibiotics on Friday and I'm finally feeling much better today. Thanks for your patience as I catch up on work at App State, JSAI-related work, and some housework.
@jennieflynn227 I had so much fun catching up with you and talking assessment! You are primed for leading this work in whatever role you have, my friend!
Kathy Guthrie and I are pleased to announce that NDSL 171- Advancing Racial Equity in Leadership Education: Centering Marginalized Institutional Contexts has been released [editors Rich Whitney and Jasmine D. Collins]. Check it at your institution’s Wiley online subscription.
@LucasSchalewski @Assessment_Inst @DrCalebJKeith @CijiAnn @WeldyEric @JoeBooksLevy Thanks for your engagement in the leadership process for student affairs assessment too, Lucas! This work is so meaningful and has the double-bonus of having wonderful colleagues across the country doing it.
Just completed the "Student Affairs and Co-Curricular Programs and Services" keynote panel at the @Assessment_Inst with @DrCalebJKeith, @CijiAnn, @WeldyEric, and @JoeBooksLevy. That was fun - let's do it again sometime! #SAassess#SAassessment
And, if #facebook didn't intend to engage in quality improvement efforts, why did they do the research? Were they hoping to find positive results to market that they weren't doing harm? If the results were positive - do that. But, when you know better, you need to do better.
I am astounded by the research Facebook has done without a focus or intention to engage in quality improvement improvement efforts. This is akin to sending a survey and doing nothing with the results. It's unethical. #SApro#SAassess#assessment https://t.co/TbgGrk9vni

If you are new to #SAassess, @SAAssessLeaders, or just want to learn more about student affairs assessment, I strongly encourage you to read @beckielkins (2015) “Looking Back and Ahead: What we Must Learn from 30 Years of Student Affairs Assessment.”
I am finding the new Occasional Paper (#52) from @NILOA_web “Advances, Contributions, Obstacles, and Opportunities in Student Affairs Assessment,” hard to read.
The work of so many professionals in the 1990s, such as Erwin, Upcraft, and Schuh are evidence that the important work we are doing began well before 2010. Are we there yet? No. Can we get better? Yes. But let’s look back with respect and reverence for the movement and work.
