If I ever become a Muslim, this is the exact routine I will run whenever someone mentions Muhammad marrying Aisha at 6 and consummating at 9.

Me: “See Aisha was a grown woman at 6. She was fully mature. Advanced for her age.”

If that doesn’t work:

“Okay, fine. Aisha had already reached puberty when Muhammad SAW married her.”

Still not convincing?

“Look, it was just the culture back then. Muhammad wasn’t the first person to marry a child.”

Still getting questions?

“Well, King Henry VIII of England married a very young girl too, so why are you only talking about Muhammad?” 😭

Still not working?

“Okay, okay! Aisha was actually 18 when Muhammad SAW married her. Those hadiths were written by Muhammad’s enemies to discredit him. Aisha was definitely 18!”

This is exactly how I imagine myself if I ever became a Muslim: moving from argument to argument, changing the defense every time the previous one stops working. That is the full gymnastics routine.

Honestly, I’m not ready for all that stress. 😂

I’d rather stay with my Jesus.

I don’t have to spend my life inventing excuses to make Him look morally acceptable. Jesus lived the perfect life that I could never live up to and instead of me constantly defending my own righteousness, He is the One who defends me before the Father.

Hey @InspiringPhilos . Can you please explain what exactly you mean by the 69.8% here? I can see three possible calculations:

- If the Qur’an has 5 independent 50/50 chances (like 5 coin flips), getting all 5 right is 3.125%.

- If it’s randomly selecting 5 from the Bible’s 73 references of the ruler of Joseph, the result depends on how those 73 are distributed between “king” and “Pharaoh.” The distribution seems to be 68 “Pharaoh,” 4 “king,” and 1 with both. Even counting that last one as “king,” the chance of selecting all 5 “king” references is about 0.0000067%, or 1 in 15 million.

- If the 69.8% is the chance of getting a run of 5 heads somewhere across 73 coin flips, then yes, that’s about 69.8%. But then you’re giving the Qur’an 73 separate chances to produce a run of 5 correct answers, when the Qur’an only makes 5 relevant mentions in total.

So what exactly is the statistical model being used here? Genuinely interested.

Here’s what is another argument as to why I can’t be Muslim ever again:

The Samaritans hated the Jews. Actual blood-feud, wouldn’t-eat-together, centuries-deep hatred. John 4 says it plainly: Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Hold that in your head.

Because the Samaritans kept their OWN Torah. Separate community, separate priesthood, separate mountain, copied it themselves for over two thousand years, and they’d have paid money to catch the Jews forging scripture. That’s your hostile witness. That’s the enemy’s copy.
