In recognizing historical figures in Black History Month, we would like to recognize Connie Yerwood, an Austin native. She was the first black doctor to serve in the Texas DSHS. She saw the disparities in her community and sought to help them by improving maternal & child health.
Happy Black History Month! As we celebrate we wanted to spotlight Arthur Ashe. He may have been known for his tennis achievements, but he was also an activist, educator, and author. He knew the importance of fitness and pushed to create youth tennis programs in low-income cities.
