New paper with @CheMichael7 and @KEHplantsci, in which we find that current uni #LeagueTables indirectly punish unis for #WideningParticipation efforts and suggest a way to prevent that from happening
Michael has the slightly longer version in this thread 👇 but I would add...1/
@StatsForBios @DaniRabaiotti @nephilidsrule @macinteresting there are also narwhals and beluga who we dont have direct evidence for but can guess have menopause based on indirect evidence https://t.co/U4UFuIvxE1
@StatsForBios @DaniRabaiotti @nephilidsrule @macinteresting very past tense for menopause person. humans are the only primate - african elephants were a no, asian elephants were a maybe but since i last checked they've been upgraded to a yes https://t.co/QQatJCYiTE
@CheMichael7 having just sat here and drawn far too many cubes, neither of the above, but closer to two.
i draw the front square, then all of the top including the back line before doing the side. i don't draw the lines "behind" the cube by default, only fill them in after the fact if i need
I have been playing around with #Townscaper, a neat little building...toy? game? thingy?...which recently ported to mobile, and spent probably too much time thinking about these odd little towns on the water, which meant that eventually a little weird fan comic came out. 1/11
@BeingSharp@jim_dickinson I don't like assuming what students want without asking them tbh.
But also worth noting that were they informed, it wouldn't have been only a choice between "live and study in hull" or "live in hull study in York" and many may have chosen other options entirely
@rpatz9@DrJoGrady She said 2-3 hours, which is routinely the time it takes by public transport, depending on traffic/transfer times. I wouldn't call that at all disingenuous.
Obviously it can be shorter if you've got specific door to door transport on, but 2-3 hours is a fair estimate
@rpatz9@DrJoGrady the public bus is over 2 hours one way too because it has to crawl through other towns on the way - I've had the misfortune of having to use that bus to commute and its awful
@rpatz9@DrJoGrady Add on half an hour from York station to the uni, and another half hour for the same trip at Hull's end since they are being housed at the uni there which is similarly nowhere near the station.
@BeingSharp@jim_dickinson its not really been an active choice though has it? Like "you can come to live and study in York oh btw you have to live miles away but you've committed now" is very different from actually knowing that when you make your choice and deciding "yes this is best for me"
This week @LivUni will celebrate Wellbeing Week. Senior managers will pay lip service to caring about staff while threatening 32 sham redundancies. Please read this open letter on the brutal impact on the well-being of our colleagues. #FightForHealthJobs https://t.co/JQbH0QNm1G
