I understand residents in Flore are concerned following reports of suspicious behaviour in the village earlier this week.
I have been raising concerns with the Home Office about the continued use of the asylum hotels at Flore and Crick since November 2024, when I was assured that these would be temporary arrangements.
Almost two years later, both hotels remain in use, and we still have no clear indication of when they will be stood down.
I have written to the Home Office again, asking for a proper update on the future of both sites, and will continue to raise residents' concerns.
My latest letter can be read below 👇
Last week, I hosted a Canal Forum in Braunston with local canal businesses and representatives from the Canal & Rive Trust, Affinity Water and Severn Trent Water to discuss the proposed Grand Union Canal Transfer Scheme.
It was an informative discussion, with those attending generally supportive of the scheme in principle and recognising the benefits of investment in the canal, while raising questions about potential disruption and the financial impact on local businesses.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their views, and to The Boat House in Braunston for kindly hosting us.
If you're interested in attending a future Canal Forum, please email me [email protected]
The Conservative Party Conference is a great opportunity to speak with a wide range of charities and organisations about issues affecting people across the Daventry constituency.
Constituents contact me throughout the year about a variety of issues, so I was particularly pleased to visit the @mndassoc and @DementiaUK following requests to do so. I also spoke with @CR_UK and @MarieCuriePA about their important work.
It was a valuable opportunity to ensure my constituents concerns are part of wider national conversations.
It was a pleasure to welcome residents from across the Daventry constituency to Parliament yesterday.
We enjoyed a tour of the Palace of Westminster, followed by a Q&A and the chance to discuss my work as their MP.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. It was lovely to meet you all!
Following the fantastic interest in this visit, I'm hoping to arrange another coach trip in the near future.
Really disappointing news for the A509 Isham Bypass.
The Government has confirmed that the bypass has been removed from its major roads programme, citing concerns about value for money and the supporting business case.
While the door remains open for the scheme to be reconsidered if a stronger business case is put forward, this is a real blow for local residents who have been waiting for improvements.
The traffic problems aren't going away, and residents deserve to know what measures will be taken in the meantime to address congestion and the pressures on local roads.
I am deeply disappointed that the Secretary of State has approved the Green Hill Solar Farm.
I have consistently opposed this development alongside residents and communities across our area and have repeatedly raised concerns about its scale, location and impact.
I will now be carefully reviewing the Secretary of State’s decision and the Examining Authority’s recommendation before commenting further.
A full statement will follow.
I know how frustrating it is for residents in East Farndon, Clipston, Maidwell and neighbouring villages to once again be experiencing problems with their water supply.
This is not the first time these communities have faced serious disruption this year, and I have continued to raise residents’ concerns directly with Anglian Water.
Following the problems this weekend, senior representatives from Anglian Water were in East Farndon this afternoon meeting residents face-to-face, including senior operational management. Bottled water has also been delivered, with further supplies being made available today for those who need them.
I have been receiving regular updates and have been in contact with Anglian Water’s Chief Executive. Once the immediate incident has been reviewed, I will be meeting senior representatives again to go through what has happened and, crucially, what needs to change to make the local network more resilient and prevent residents repeatedly finding themselves in this position.
I will also be arranging a further visit to East Farndon with Anglian Water and will keep residents updated.
Pleased to join the Daventry Town Mayor for his Civic Service at Holy Cross Church on Sunday.
A lovely occasion bringing the community together, while recognising the important local work of the Mayor’s chosen charities.
Lovely to join @LGBTCons at tonight’s Pride Reception.
Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate the group’s history and their contribution to our party.
A pleasure to join @WeAreBrightBlue and @PostcodeLottery’s panel today.
We should make it easier and more attractive to give to charity, so more support reaches the people and causes that need it.
@pspencer_CSNI@StuartAndrew@StuartAndrew added that we must create a better environment for charitable giving through the tax system, as well as through other reforms.
Our Best Pub Awards finalists are in!
Congratulations to the final three in this year’s Daventry Constituency Best Pub Awards, and thank you to everyone who voted.
Winners will be announced at The Arc Cinema, Daventry, on Monday 19 October.
Good luck to all our finalists!
Farming is hard enough without uncertainty over the schemes farmers are being asked to rely on.
I’ve joined colleagues in pressing the Environment Secretary for answers on SFI26 and for a clear timetable, budget and fairer approach to SFI27.
A pleasure as always to sit down with local businesses to hear directly about what’s going well and the challenges they’re facing at my Business Breakfast Club.
Last Friday, there was plenty to discuss, including the upcoming Budget, energy costs, planning, employment and the NHS.
Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to another really useful discussion.
If you run a local business and would like to find out more about future events, please email [email protected]
Delighted to have been re-adopted as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the Daventry Constituency at the next General Election.
A huge thank you to local members for their continued support and confidence.
A welcome step forward for Onley Park residents.
There was some ambiguity in the Minister’s answer, as she said the work would take around 12 months but also referred to completion by January 2027. I expect she meant the works are due to commence then.
I have asked the Minister to confirm the timescales, but we should nonetheless have much greater clarity in November once the programme of works is published.
It was a pleasure to attend Northampton and Lamport Railway’s 30 Year Gala and see so many people enjoying the celebrations.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to keep the railway running and preserve it for future generations.
Good to be in Buckton Fields this weekend, speaking with residents on the doorstep about the issues that matter to them.
Alongside my regular advice surgeries, I hold telephone and online appointments, street stalls and doorstep surgeries across the constituency.
My next advice surgery is on Saturday 19 September.
If there’s an issue I can help with, please get in touch: [email protected]
I went back to Daventry Community Centre car park after residents raised concerns about potholes and overgrown landscaping.
Some vegetation has been cut back, but the potholes remain and overgrowth is still taking up parking spaces.
I’ve raised both issues again with West Northamptonshire Council and will keep pressing for the outstanding work to be completed.
