1974 @Conservatives lost to labour. Thatcher became leader. She served under Heath. Got off to a slow start then won in 1979. A turbulent decade followed. The end result was a stronger richer more prosperous country. In @KemiBadenoch i see history repeating itself. I can't wait
All the people decrying the Tories whilst saying “We want our country back” have missed a vital factor.
That will be back to … when the Conservatives were in power, the economy was good and people felt safe. 🇬🇧💙
The Conservatives have always dug us out of the hole that Labour created and turned the economy around. And they are the only
ones who can guarantee doing it again.
Yes. Let’s get our country back - to traditional Conservative success that we all know and love.
@TomK_Brit1993 He'd never earn my support cos I'm a tribal tory. Especially under Kemi. But he could earn my respect if he didnt lie. Showed empathy. And actually batted for britain on the international stage. What happened to the old Labour MPs. Never liked but highly respected
Reform’s false smears against @kemibadenoch on equality under the law, called out from across the political spectrum, are illuminating. For anyone still under the illusion that Reform MPs care about sorting out problems in police policy and training, ponder this:
@GMB
Today I have met Lucy, Mark and Katie, Henry Nowak’s mother, father and stepmother. Their courage is extraordinary.
They have endured the most appalling loss, it is a life sentence for them.
They have also faced the agonising decision to release the harrowing body-worn camera footage, knowing how painful it would be and how strongly people would react. They did so because they want truth, accountability and change.
They have asked that we work across political parties and religions to rebuild trust in the police. That trust has been broken because of what happened, and I agree with them on that.
We must also be prepared to examine, carefully and seriously, religious practices or exemptions that permit the carrying of dangerous weapons in public, and other activities that are not conducive to the public good. We also need to examine where the law needs to change.
Henry’s family do not want anger to tear communities apart. They are a family who have friends across faith and race, and so did Henry. His family want his memory to help bring our society together.
Everyone knows I have strong views about how we should deal with equality under the law. What the family agreed with me on is that we need to bring common sense back, and that is what we should all be fighting for.
I promised the family that we will work to ensure there is a positive legacy for Henry out of this tragedy.
That is my focus now.
@ZiaYusufUK Your desperation is nauseating. @KemiBadenoch popularity is now making @Conservatives look appealing again. Reform are on the verge of free falling into oblivion. Nothing shows that more than your vile personal attacks and constant lying. You make starmer look like a saint
I’ve thought this for a while. Kemi Badenoch is the only serious leader of any of our (many) political parties. And I’ve never voted Conservative. Labour since I was old enough to vote.
I’ve never been tempted before to vote Tory. I am now sorely tempted.
This is what leadership looks like.
Kemi addressing the problems that led to the mishandling of the incident.
Anger at murder of Henry Nowak is completely understandable, but won’t address the underlying problems. A fundamental change is needed in our thinking on race issues.
@RobertJenrick Wow this is a low blow. Just cos she sacked you for not knowing how to clear a photocopier properly. You've even had a fact check put against your post. What matters is. A poor lad was murdered and then gas lit by the attacker as he lay dying. So the police cuffed him.
I’ve been a fan of @KemiBadenoch for years, and in recent weeks it’s become increasingly clear.
She’s the strongest Conservative leader since Margaret Thatcher.
Conviction, clarity, and fighting spirit.
We’d all be better off with her at the helm.
They are no longer the Labour Party, they are the Welfare Party. It doesn’t matter who is in charge of these people, the party for Benefits Street will tax us all into poverty to pay for more welfare.
Pat McFadden has said in private what he and the Prime Minister deny in public. As I’ve said repeatedly, Labour MPs don’t understand where money comes from. They think our taxes are their money to spend, rather than the result of the hard work of the people in our country who deserve so much better.
The Conservative party is the only party holding Labour to account, as Reform, Lib Dems the SNP and others join Labour in demanding the state pay more and more benefits.
