@UKHospKate Plenty of small businesses being taken well over the threshold for relief as well. Going to be carnage next year. Suspect the overall tax take from retail an hospitality will actually fall.
@DanNeidle Think the Business Rates revaluation that they snuck out on the day of the budget is going to have a much more dramatic effect on the country.

Immigrants staying with friends. Expats looking to move back. Armed forces leavers. Not every first time renter comes of the streets.
@landlord_secret Agent here. We have had a few but not loads. Surely a better policy is 0% CGT if 50% of the saving is passed onto the tenant in the form of a gifted deposit. Appreciate lenders would need to be onboard but in my experience one of the big barriers to tenants buying is the deposit.

@RicPickford@MartinSLewis It would help if the banks passed on the rise to savers. Encourage people to save rather than spend. Even then don't think it would work. No idea what the answer but don't think the govt do either.
