@TimFahrnerSPT@DPTPathophy2018 Keeping children with Cystic Fibrosis engaged in PT can be challenging. This study showed promising results using a form of visual breath biofeedback technology to promote optimal breathing and reduce pulmonary exacerbations through the use of videogames. #pathnews#group7
@amrsalehSPT@DPTPathophy2018 Bowel dysfunction is a common side effect of a SCI. PTs can reintroduce peristalsis to the GI tract through abdominal massage when a SCI has interrupted normal innervation, alleviating constipation.

@DavisTuckerSPT @DPTPathophy2018@NbaileySPT @kerseySPT @carmen_reichle Paraffin bath treatments in hand OA applies heat to the tissues causing vasodilation and hyperemia, which produces an analgesic effect, reduction of muscle tone and increased metabolic activity. Along with exercise it can be beneficial in maintaining muscle strength.
@KPelfrey_SPT@DPTPathophy2018 Pain and spasticity are major side effects of ALS. As PTs we take a multidisciplinary approach with treatments. This study showed benefits of intrathecal baclofen as a modality for pain and spasticity which can be used in addition to tradition management techniques.
@TaylanJadeSPT Early diagnosis and treatment of CP has shown the best results in preventing further brain damage. This study used a postnatal therapy strategy targeting the microglia and astrocytes in the brain to combat neuroinflammation and motor deficits in rabbits.
@HunterGrubbs5@DPTPathophy2018 This study identified specific biofeedback frequencies produced by different tumor cells and discovered they can effectively target cancer cell proliferation using EMF wavelengths with little adverse effects!
@HunterGrubbs5@DPTPathophy2018 While not excercise based, this is a newer concept of non-invasive cancer treatment. I like to think PTs take a more holistic approach to medicine and maybe incorporate more than just exercise prescription in the future! #Pathnews2018

@EmillerWSSU@HunterGrubbs5@DPTPathophy2018 I think that's a great point to bring up! Like @carmen_reichle mentioned many patients with illness can be intimidated by exercise. Maybe this could be one way to help ease them into therapy?
@EmillerWSSU@DPTPathophy2018 I thought this article was interesting because it emphasized coping, resilience, and optimisim for the caregivers of those with dementia, which translated to better care for the patients! https://t.co/iC1MRuQ0sL
@DPTPathophy2018 I know everyone made some great points on this topic but I thought this article was interesting because it mentioned that the effects of high intensity exercise was seen after 6 months but it is unknown how long those effects would last or their long term application.
