@FoolsBelieve It a tax. I’ve processed payroll for many years. It is based on gross income the same way as income tax, FUTA, SUTA, state payroll taxes, and special state/local taxes. All are non-negotiable.

It does adjust organically because it is a percentage of gross income. When income goes up, so does the tax amount collected. Also, the maximum amount of taxable income has increased annually for as long as I can remember. I agree with you that our government has responsibility in creating the current trajectory.

The short story is that Cunningham confirms her opinion regarding girls-only sports; the trans-first people absolutely lose their nonsense when two teenage girls wear their XX-XY T-shirts to the Seattle game, and then all hell (hate) breaks loose. The WNBA ("W" stands for women) cannot come up with a definition of what a woman is, and the absolute trans-first stupidity went into hyperdrive. How'd I do?
