I challenged myself. 😂 I Opened YouTube, found a pattern drafting tutorial and decided to see if I could follow along on my own and I came up with. 🥹
It's not finished yet because I don't have a shoe last at home, but I'll complete it at the workshop tomorrow.
Small win. ❤️
Meet my co-workers 😂. Every shoemaker, both beginner and expert knows the importance of these major tools in shoemaking. There's still a lot more but these are literally the basics that we can't do without. 👇
Lasting pliers: Used to pull the leather tightly over the last before it's attached to the sole.
Pincers: Commonly used to remove nails or tacks during shoemaking or grip materials firmly depending on the tasks.
Scissors: Used for trimming leather and other materials. The red one is called a Marco scissors... specifically for Marco material since it's very tough.
They are hammers but I like to call them the holy Trinity 😂. left to right
Mallet : Like a hammer but softer. It's let's you flatten the without damaging or leaving mark on the material.
Small and big hammer: it's use to tap parts into shape, and help pieces stick together.
I got to use my hands today with enough supervision.I made a lot of mistakes cos I was nervous ngl.
Anyways, I think I've found my favorite type of leather. Suede 😍
It's got this cool, sleek, sexy look and feeling 😂 Can you guess how it's gonna look like when it's finished?
These days are different.
I wake up knowing I have somewhere to go, something to learn and something to look forward to.
I didn't expect a workshop to make me excited about Mondays again, but here we are.
When you've been unemployed for a while, the days stop feeling different. Monday, Wednesday, Saturday... they all blend together because there's nowhere you really need to be.
Today's Sunday, so after church I got home and decided not to waste the rest of the evening.
Since I don't have a shoe last at home yet, I decided to start training my eyes and hands by sketching.
This is my very first attempt at drawing anything in years. 😂
This is the kind of weather where you feel good rolling around in bed 😭 but comfort is a drug, and a very addictive one at that. So rise and grind.
Top of the morning y'all ♥️
