Arapahoe Sheriff Investigators arrest two more suspects in puppy theft, dog still missing

On February 28, 2025, Jonathan Muniz, 32, was taken into custody by ACSO investigators at a residence in Denver. Deputies say Muniz is the suspect who stole the two English bulldog puppies from their enclosure at Perfect Pets on February 21 and tried to carry them out of the store but tripped and fell, dropping the puppies. He got up, grabbed both puppies and fled in a gold Cadillac Escalade. Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest. Muniz is currently in custody at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility being held on a no-bond hold, facing charges of:
-Robbery
-Theft
-Conspiracy to commit theft
-3rd degree assault
-Violation of a Protection Order
-Cruelty to Animals - 2 counts

Investigators also obtained an arrest warrant for the owner of the getaway car, identified as Porfiria Tacorante, 34. On March 5, 2025, Tacorante turned herself in to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility. Tacorante posted a $25,000 cash/surety bond, and is facing charges of:
-Theft
-Conspiracy to commit theft

The filing of a criminal charge is merely a formal accusation that an individual committed a crime under Colorado law. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
