Bank employees are committed to their work; now it’s time for the Government to be committed to delivering on 5-day banking. #5DayBankingNow#AIBOC@PMOIndia
Bankers keep India connected 24×7.
But behind every transaction, target and deadline is a human being, with a family, responsibilities and a life beyond the branch.
A 5-day week was agreed in March 2024, with bankers accepting longer working hours from Monday to Friday.
The demand is reasonable. The commitment is proven. The delay is difficult to justify.
Implement 5-Day Banking now.

Dear Comrades,
Two rounds of online meetings were held today. There has been no concrete outcome on the Five-Day Work Week. The strike stands. The UFBU Circular Follows.
Now is the time for unity, discipline and total mobilisation.
Every preparatory programme must be carried out meticulously. Every leader must remain fully focused, visible and active on the ground. Members must be kept alert, mobilised and ready for action.
No complacency. No dilution. No looking back.
Our strength will be seen in our preparedness, our unity and our presence on the ground.
Strike Ahead — March On!

Access to reasonable PLI structures must derive from past agreements that encourage collective growth in morale and expansion. #5DayWeekandFairPLI#AIBOC@PMOIndia
Over two years have passed since the IBA’s recommendation for 5-day banking, leading to frustration among bank employees. #5DayWeekandFairPLI#AIBOC@PMOIndia
India’s Bank employees seek two things rooted in fairness and dignity at work.

The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.
At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.
Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.
A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

Combat ongoing unrest through thorough compliance with prior agreements, wherever banking employees are concerned—-time to act! #5DayWeekandFairPLI#AIBOC@PMOIndia

A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.

When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice.
IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed.
Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays.
Respect the Settlement. Deliver it.

A 5-day banking schedule allows for longer weekends, promoting mental health and well-being among banking professionals. #5DayBankingNow https://t.co/Vxzaojfvps
