Alongside her prolific literary career, she enjoyed an egalitarian marriage with filmmaker Shahid Latif and contributed iconic screenplays to Indian cinema, including Garm Hava. Honored with prestigious accolades such as the Padma Shri, Chughtai passed away in 1991, leaving an indelible mark through her innovative use of language and rebellious spirit.
