@pattyrikku@TwittaUser22@ReviewsPossum The study did not show "more concern", just "concern".
It just shows how far their empathy extends, not where they have most empathy.
The further in you are, the less you care about the edge. The further out you are, the further your empathy extends, not more or less.
@johnatanpiazza1@stargazeruk7 I think the curse lies in the repetivieness, and that we mostly think of the past rather than the future.
Becoming immortal in the antiquity means a lot of rinse and repeat, making every moment less unique.
But if it is instead from today, you can experience stepping on Mars.
@LitmusConf19810 Without an open mind and critical thought, evidence isn't much worth. If you can't read it, you can't understand it. The world is filled with nuances that so many overlook because they try to simplify the world around them.
@LitmusConf19810 I guess thanks. I always try to keep an open mind and to be critical of what we think is true. Sometimes what is passed down isn't worth it logically.
I guess many parts of it comes down to philosophy.
@LitmusConf19810 Yeah it is only relevant to medicine.
Outside of that and physical, biology have little relevance.
As before stated, when you see a woman on the street, you don't actually know if she have XX chromosomes. The human brain doesn't detect biology, only visual expectations.
@LitmusConf19810 A trans man can get pregnant. So yes a man can get pregnant, as a trans man fulfill the definition of man.
In medicine, assumptions are quickly made in dire situations, so there is relevance in knowing the sex, and if they are on hormone replacement therapy.
@LitmusConf19810 Yes most cultures of a primitive understanding of sex and gender, separated based on sex. In western society the age of enlightenment started what would erode the notion of separation based on sex. In most of europe, trans women can use the womens' restroom, ergo not sex divide.
@LitmusConf19810 A divide based on gender is though more sensible, like for changing rooms and bathrooms, as crime and violence goes on lines of identity instead of sex.
Trans women and non-trans women have similar experiences, and have reason to be accomodated to protect them.
@LitmusConf19810 Divide by sex is a cultural thing, as christianity made clear distinction of duties between men and women, and forbid mixing.
I don't think there should be divisions based on sex, with exceptions in sports if it can be proven that the advantage can't be nullified with hrt.
@LitmusConf19810 Well society revolves around identities. Anything from being a mother, which may not mean being a biological mother, to political identities, adherence to groups.
@LitmusConf19810 Arguments around the lack of women in chess wasn't made because of trans people participating.
They were made to tear down stereotypes.
@LitmusConf19810 So it is more a cultural thing than biological.
Therefore sex-based competitions don't make sense. Gender-based competitions makes more sense.
@LitmusConf19810 As Magnus Carlsen have said;
"Chess societies have not been very kind to women and girls over the years. Certainly, there needs to be a bit of a change in culture."
