@rboucheron Without doubt, a request for editorial changes would be an exception to our two commandments. Especially if the "acceptance" is contingent in this regard. And a publication date should absolutely be set. So, yes, agreed on these points.
When it comes to the ethics of getting work accepted at literary journals, the submission gods hath spoken, the prophet hath come down from the mountain top, and the commandments—only two!—have been delivered. And here they are . . . https://t.co/wKtTzCIY8V
@rboucheron Also, to be clear, we're more concerned about writers changing their minds about the *quality* of journals they've been accepted to. Rarely (and by rarely, I mean never), in our experience (dozens and dozens of acceptances), have things like dates and terms been an issue.
@rboucheron We believe a prudent writer will clarify a journal's terms before *submitting*, not after an acceptance. Nearly all journals request immediate withdrawals upon acceptances, for obvious reasons.
@BeckyLTuch@_conjunctions I (Erik) read Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms my first year of music school (after five years of engineering school, during which I read nothing but numbers and variables). I was unprepared for the book's devastation, but it didn't stop me from reading more and more and more.
Erik spends an exorbitant amount of time correcting punctuation in dialogue. So, for reasons of both magnanimity and, yes, pure selfishness (to hopefully reduce his editing time!), he gets deep into this topic in his latest post. https://t.co/quhs3r8sDT

Erik used to believe reading journals was a waste: how could reading a few stories give one a sense of a journal that undoubtedly prides itself on its eclecticism and diversity? Erik was wrong. See #3 in "8 Mistakes Writers Make Submitting to Lit Journals" https://t.co/mcVFjhMUNb
@kris10simental Ah, excellent idea. @Submitit_Now covered this well but I can definitely introduce a discussion topic about it. Thank ya!

@BeckyLTuch We recently decided to stop submitting to PANK (tons of pending submissions). We assume that when they get their act together, they will be sending refunds to all past submitters. We are holding our breath.
