🚨 WHEN HOPE FADES, DESPERATION TAKES OVER

Yesterday, my heart broke as I sat in Ward 20, listening directly to this young man sharing why he turned to drugs. At just 30 years old, he says he has never worked a day in his life because opportunities are too often reserved for those with connections. He tried everything, until drugs became his escape from a life that had left him feeling hopeless. Behind his addiction is a young man who is still yearning for hope, opportunity and a chance to build a better life.

His story is the story of thousands of our young people who are being failed by unemployment, poverty and a lack of opportunity. This is the narrative I want to redefine upon my return as Executive Mayor of @CityofJoburgZA. We must attract investment, create jobs, expand skills development and open more rehabilitation centres so that we do not simply treat addiction, but address the hopelessness that drives so many into it.

While our children battle addiction, parents lie awake at night fearing the call that could tell them their child has been beaten, harmed or killed. These wounds destroy families and leave scars that can follow generations. Our young people do not need to be written off; they need hope, dignity, opportunity and a government that believes in them.

SIU has just confirmed what every South African already knows: Home Affairs was turned into an open marketplace where foreigners bought their way into the country with fake documents and cash bribes.

Investigators found a coordinated study visa fraud system run from INSIDE the department. Fake acceptance letters from colleges that either didn’t exist, weren’t registered, or never even accepted the applicant. Forged medical certificates. Fake medical aid numbers. Falsified criminal record checks. All pushed through via WhatsApp and side channels for quick approval.

Bribes paid in cash, e-wallets, or straight into accounts linked to officials’ spouses so it couldn’t be traced easily. Once these “students” got the visa, many never set foot in a classroom. They opened businesses instead and some of that money went straight back to the same officials.

Even worse: young foreigners as young as 21 were abusing retirement visas. The department doesn’t even monitor the R35 000 monthly income requirement after the visa is issued. Fraudulent bank statements from pastors and others were waved through without proper checks.
Asylum was used as another back door. Blank corporate visas issued. DNA manipulation suspected. Identity fraud for passports.

278 criminal referrals already sent to the NPA. 205 administrative referrals for visa cancellations and deportations.

This is how our borders were sold. While South Africans struggle for jobs, housing and basic services, foreigners with money and connections walked straight in.
Arrest every official involved. Cancel every fraudulent visa. Deport the lot. No more excuses.

#RT [WANTED] A manhunt has been launched for a 41-year-old James Mohajane (pictured) wanted in connection with the brutal murder of three people.

He is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend, Moipone Lefoka, her sister, Esther Lefoka, and Esther’s boyfriend, Tshepo Molekwa.

It is alleged that the three victims were last seen together at a house belonging to Tshepo Molekwa. On Sunday morning, the bodies of the three victims were discovered at the house. They had allegedly been hacked to death with a spade.

Mohajane was nowhere to be found when police arrived at the scene. His cellphone was, however, found at the crime scene.

The motive for the killings is still under investigation.

SAPS is appealing to anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of James Mohajane to immediately contact Sergeant Nhlapo on 078 918 7746.

You are urged not to approach or confront the suspect, but to immediately provide information to the police!

As the South African Police Service (SAPS) intensifies its fight against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) and serious and violent crimes perpetrated against women, children and vulnerable groups during Women’s Month, police in Moeka Vuma near Makapanstad in the North West have launched a manhunt for a 41-year-old man (pic) wanted in connection with the brutal murder of three people.

🎂🤱 FROM GA-RAMOTSE TO 67 YEARS OF PURPOSE

Today, 67 years ago, on the 26th of August 1959, a little boy was born in a small rural village called Ga-Ramotse in Hammanskraal.

A young boy who lost his father at the age of two, and whose mother was forced to leave home to work as a domestic worker in what was once known as the City of Gold, Jozi Maboneng. She did not leave because she wanted to; poverty gave her no choice. Her sacrifice meant that his sisters had to help raise him, while his grandfather, who named him High Man at birth, taught him lessons that would shape his life: that life demands resilience, responsibility and determination.

That little boy never allowed the circumstances of his childhood to define the limits of his future. He understood that his mother's absence was not abandonment, but an act of love and sacrifice, a mother doing whatever she could to put food on the table and give her children a chance at a better life. From his sisters, he learnt strength; from his grandfather, he inherited resilience, hard work and determination; and from Ga-Ramotse, he learnt never to forget where he came from. Those early lessons became the foundation of the man he has now become.

That little boy was me, Herman Philip Samtseu Mashaba.

Today, as I turn 67, I look back with gratitude at the journey from that small village to becoming a successful entrepreneur, a leader and a servant of my country, the accidental Mayor that has always been seen as the outsider, for serving in the intrest of those he leads. Today, I carry my father's memory, my mother's sacrifice, my sisters' strength and my grandfather's voice with me every day.

My journey has never been about escaping where I come from; it has been about using where I come from as the strength to fight for a better future for those who still live with the circumstances I once knew.

I have come a long way, but the fight to change the narrative of our people continues.
