Yesterday, on World Humanitarian Day, we honoured the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those who dedicate their lives to protecting vulnerable communities.
We paid tribute to the likes of Hanadi Dawood, a dedicated nurse and volunteer from Zamzam IDP Camp, who provided lifesaving medical care to wounded and displaced families. We also remember Siham Hassan from El Fasher, formerly Sudan’s youngest member of parliament, who organised food aid and ran community kitchens for families in need.
Both these women gave their lives to their humanitarian work, serving their communities up until the moment they were tragically martyred at the hands of the RSF militia.
We were honoured by the visit of Archbishop Angaelos, the Coptic Archbishop of London, and Bishop Sarabamon, Coptic Bishop of Omdurman, Atbara, and Northern Sudan, to the Sudanese Embassy in London.
The Coptic community has long played an important role in Sudan’s social and cultural fabric, contributing across many fields and standing alongside all Sudanese people in moments of peace and in times of hardship. Together, we reaffirmed our shared belief in promoting national unity, coexistence, and sustainable peace.
A warm greeting as Ambassador Babiker Al Amin of the United Kingdom joins X, connecting with all those who follow Sudan.
With best wishes for the New Year and Sudan’s Independence Day!
