The Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain, is now the tallest church in the world, standing at 172.5 metres (566 feet).
It was designed by the renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, often referred to as “God’s Architect.” This year marks the centenary of his death; he died in 1926 after dedicating much of his life to the project.
Construction of the basilica began in 1882. It has taken 144 years to complete its central and tallest tower, the Tower of Jesus Christ, bringing the structure to its full planned height. However, some elements of the project, including parts of the Glory Façade and the main entrance, are still expected to be completed in the coming years.
On the evening of 10 June 2026, Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass at the Sagrada Família and blessed the newly completed Tower of Jesus Christ during its inauguration ceremony. The event was attended by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Church leaders, and thousands of faithful who gathered to witness this historic milestone, which also coincided with the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death.

"Hey, we don't need anything that Canada has, we don't know anything that Mexico has, but they need everything that we have"
Let's test that theory for a month or two right before the midterms. USMCA isn't going anywhere and Trump, Lutnick and Greer are blowing hot air.
Trump to Wisconsin farmers: "Canada's been very rough"
The administration that started an unprovoked trade war and tried to annex us dwells in an alternate reality where USA is the victim of vicious Canadian bullying.
Trump is not well. This kind of unreasonable, angry lashing out is a sign of Fronto-temporal Dementia. As is his rage tweeting all night and frequently falling asleep during the day.
