Four years ago I wrote my inaugural poem The Hill We Climb. Both when I wrote it and performed it, I did so while continuously reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King’s legacy. I was (and am) blown away by how my words reverberated around the world; if anything, it proved to me that we honor King’s dream, by daring to dream big, and by, most importantly, daring to dream together. Only then will the loving fantasies of our better nature transform into reality. The work and fight for the dream persists, and what’s more, it is not just a fight, but fate—that perhaps we are as destined for this time as it is destined for us. What a worthwhile, powerful calling only we can answer. Here with you in the hill and the climb, and whatever light lies beyond, whatever light lies within.

I just got back from Donald Trump's inauguration.
If it's any indication of what Trump's second term will look like, it'll be great for his billionaire donors and giant corporations, and pain and costs for everyone else.
If you’re feeling despair today, I completely understand.
But Trump’s second term will expose a reality that has been hidden from many Americans: the raw, stinking power of the American oligarchy.
I’m hopeful that America will see this reality for what it is and respond to it.
Cecile Richards dedicated her life to protecting and expanding women’s rights. She never wavered in her commitment to ensuring that women had access to the reproductive health care they needed, and her leadership at Planned Parenthood led to the inclusion of important healthcare provisions in the Affordable Care Act.
Women of all ages knew they could count on Cecile, and Michelle and I will always be grateful for her advocacy. We send all our love to Kirk, Lily, Hannah, Daniel, and all those who loved and admired her.
It’s critical during the Trump presidency that reporters do not normalise fascism or fail to call it out.
Why does @abcnews radio just now excitedly report on Elon Musk’s speech but not his fascist salute? This must be called out for what it is #Inauguration2025
Through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped move this country forward. As we honor his legacy today, let’s remember the lesson he taught us: that even in the face of impossible odds, people who love this country can help change it. In honor of #MLKDay, I hope you’ll do what you can in your community to create a better future for us all.
Irish followers, I hope you wear Israel's decision to shut down its embassy in Dublin as a badge of honor. Ireland's commitment to truth and justice stands in stark contrast to my country's flight from morals and humanity. You are our true friends. Erin go Bragh 🇮🇪🫡
I will serve my people as long as I am breathing, if we are going to die, we will not die in silence, if we are going to live, we are going to live in dignity.
Protestors in Kerry Ireland 🇮🇪:
‘In a year 17,000 children have been murdered in Gaza 🇵🇸 There are 17,000 children aged 0-9 in Kerry. Imagine the whole county without children’
Ireland 🇮🇪 stands with Palestine 🇵🇸
It’s a genocide.
Stop selling arms to Israel 🇮🇱 now.

Hello everyone, we have some very wonderful news. Kiungui just had her 12 months review and has the all clear.
We now need your help to support her in her next step for a full life and to return to her studies in 2025.

Having once again been arbitrarily denied access to the Occupied Palestinian Territory by Israel, I have travelled across the region to meet with Palestinians and others who could help me better understand/assess developments on the ground.
Based on the information received, I concluded that the situation in Gaza is worse than previously assessed, extreme violence continues to spread to the rest of the occupied territory, and no Palestinian is safe under Israel’s unfettered control.
#Protection is a urgent priority for all Palestinians.

"There's really no such thing as the 'voiceless'. There are only the deliberately silenced, or the preferably unheard" (A. Roy)
And when those who have been deliberately silenced speak, they are a powerhouse.
We stand with Australian humanitarian aid organisations & unions calling for a permanent, immediate ceasefire in Gaza. A path to durable peace is the only way forward.
