My hubs speaks my love language, gifting me an autographed copy of @EthicalSkeptic’s Inversion on Election Day. Strange days are ahead, and I’m hopeful that the results tonight will be in my favor so we can move Ohio into a stronger position. Can’t wait to read this!
Elon's commentary last week on Tesla AI chips vs. Nvidia AI chips has been ringing in my ears:
1) Nvidia has to address the needs of past, present, and future customers, dispersing their efforts over a range of time and imperatives while Tesla focuses on a narrow range of overlapping targets - all robotic. (The cars are just robots with wheels.)
2) Much of contemporary AI inference (in use even by xAI) is facilitated using floating-point math - expensive in terms of computation and energy. By contrast (and blowing my mind a bit), the Tesla AI approach uses integers, VASTLY reducing the on-circuit overhead for both.
Add the general perception that there's an "AI bubble," and I think things are about to get very interesting - particularly in supply chain and energy grid.
Every AI "operator" right now needs two things in abundance to compete: chips and power.
To get those, they have to burn a LOT of money - a lot of which comes from investment (no, your ChatGPT subscription is not going to pay for OpenAI's data centers - not even close). If investors get spooked...
So, this may come down to some slide-rule calculations related to who's going to get hard ROI the fastest: the vapor-ware crowd, or the dude who actually has been building robots - the largest expected consumer of AI output - for literally years.
Right now, the winner of that race seems pretty obvious.
Maybe that'll change.
Keeping my ear to the rails.
The evidence on this is approaching overwhelming.
Nobody builds structures like this for "religious" reasons. And, they're not the equivalent of lithic tarot cards.
There was powerful motivation in play.
I don't know if you heard but the State of Florida and the Surgeon General have just committed $65 million for the study of ivermectin in the treatment prevention of cancer outside of big Pharma
Digital ID was the FIRST step the China took.
It’s the FOUNDATION of their SOCIAL CREDIT system now adopted by the west.
It is a surveillance state where one “mistake” can cost your job, bank account, your family and your freedom.
Reject it totally!
🚨BREAKING: Due to our oversight efforts, GOOGLE commits to offer ALL creators previously kicked off YouTube due to political speech violations to return to the platform.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL.
Thread:
When we talk about the importance of free speech, we're talking about this.
See, we free speech advocates believe this guy should be allowed to utter any lies he wants to, in whatever manner seems best to him.
We do not advocate for administrative intercession on behalf of some moving-target morality to say whether his lies are harmless or harmful, and that he should be prevented in some way from presenting them to as broad an audience as he wishes.
But, there's something else we don't do.
We don't attempt to suspend consequence.
We note it instead.
There's a natural progression to things - often erroneously conflated with "the wrath of God" for dramatic and influential effect - in which certain actions lead to highly predictable outcomes.
(In fact, a careful examination of the Bible will lead the thoughtful reader to conclude that much of what God warns us about is not what He's going to do to us, but rather, an appeal to stop inflicting those inevitable results on ourselves.)
Are we gleeful about those consequences? Not really.
In fact, sometimes, we're hopeful and curious. We kinda wish they didn't happen.
For example, when some loudmouth climbs to the top of a tall structure, shouts at everyone that they're stupid for believing in gravity, and cries, "Y'all watch this!" as he steps off the edge, we do, in fact, watch. All the way down.
We, too, think it'd be pretty cool if this intrepid challenger of well-understood physics managed to conspicuously prove that they can be successfully defied.
But, when he doesn't, and the highly predictable outcome asserts itself with a dull, wet thud, we go home and explain to our loved ones that gravity on earth will do to them what it did to the man at the bottom of that crater.
Today, the man on his way down, flapping his arms as he comes to grips with certain irrevocable realities, is @StephenKing.
I will not be happy when he suffers the outcome for this.
But, I will take note.
The entire Right has to band together. Enough of this in-fighting bullshit. We are up against demonic forces from the pit of Hell. They’re killing us in our churches. They tried to kill our president. They killed Charlie, one of our greatest advocates. Put the personal squabbles aside. Now’s not the time. This is existential. A fight for our own existence and the existence of our country.
