@brent_waggoner In the early days, you could find him for a longer conversation and/or make an appointment with him to talk. It's much harder these days and it's more likely that he would have you meet with one of the other pastors based on what type of help / care you needed.

@brent_waggoner I attend a church that had a couple hundred attending on Sundays when I first started and now has something like 4-5K that attend every Sunday. Access to the lead pastor has definitely changed over that time.

@joshuahake I'm just as sick now as I was 2.5 years ago and because of the mental strain from the medical trauma and dealing with this illness, need even more support than ever but all of that support that was there early has become non-existent.

@joshuahake More recently, I got sick about 2.5 years ago and was attending / serving at an evangelical church at the time. In the beginning, I got lots of phone calls, texts, etc. (of course I got sick right as the panini was happening, so not a lot of visits).

@joshuahake I will caveat this and say that a handful of my longest relationships with people from the church are people where our relationship started this way, but more often than not these people simply disappeared.

@joshuahake The LDS Church has programs where people get assigned to each other. One of the things that led me away from the Church was how often those relationships didn't exist past the person's assignment. They loved and cared about me when I was their calling but then disappeared.

@stephenhdbryce If God created me in his own image and if Matthew 5:48 is correct in that I am perfect, as He is perfect than how can something so core to who I am be wrong. I am okay standing in front of God with that belief and knowing that I did the best I could and made the best choices.

@DiaryofaSickGrl I can't have nails. A) if I let my nails grow too long I can literally feel them and they drive nuts. B) I tend to scratch and cause sores and things just by itching. When I keep my nails down to my fingertips, I do better.

@TheAmberPicota I love my pastor. He does write out his sermons in the weeks leading up to the Sundays. There are a number of really great reasons he does this, and especially for someone who used to serve on the media team it was immensely helpful.

@DiaryofaSickGrl Also, I can't wear the ones that hook around the ears without extreme pain and the ones that sit in the ear either hurt or constantly fall out.

@DiaryofaSickGrl Been told it's #EDS hell because the ears are primary collagen. I just got a pair over the head with some nice padding that I can wear for short term and I like the headband with built-in headphones. They aren't the greatest sound quality, but they don't hurt my ears.

@rednecknerdguy That's awesome. I've struggled with the question of whether or not to be baptized again (outside of my Mormon baptism). I don't think I've found my right church community yet though, and I think that's why I'm still equivocal about it.

@theartdoc @_robotshane @_michellebelle_ Yep. And/or people that still think it's okay to pay babysitters like $5 / hour even if you have multiple kids. (and they expect you to serve meals, tidy up the house, etc.)
