Eddie Wrack, ridden by Carl Hanford, won the first race held at Suffolk Downs as the first race was held on July 10, 1935. That began a rich history which would feature some of the world's finest racehorses, greatest jockeys and biggest stars.

June 29, 1936 - On this day in history in 1936, Seabiscuit, at odds of 12-1, won earned his first local victory at Suffolk Downs and was discovered by eventual trainer Tom Smith. The rest is horse racing history.
