@This_Old_Lady@RupertLowe10 Illegal invaders and terrorists??
We are talking about sick children.
What is wrong with you? What went wrong in your life to make you so twisted?
@mcmorris_john@veggieequallife And think how ludicrous the situation is.
Imagine if the tax payer trained up operational astronauts at a similar cost.
Does that mean once qualified, those astronauts should be paid less than Uber drivers?
@cramiworld Of course they don't increase in line. However, that does not detract from fully qualified doctors earning less than their assistants.
And don't worry, there will be plenty of renegotiation to come.
@cramiworld The employers here are paying doctors' assistants more than the fully qualified doctors. Hard to make an argument that they can't afford it. And that is despite last year's increase.
And yes Sainsbury's is an option. But so is collective action- expect to see more๐
@cramiworld You really need to think this through.
Most jobs don't have contracted increases.
So following your logic a postman should be paid tuppence a day just as they were 100 years ago.
@EuropeNotEU@DrHWazir Are you sure that the rate of increase is going down?
That is different to an actual decrease.
Inflation going down does not mean that things are cheaper. In fact it means they are going up but just less quickly
I have made this point 3 times now. I am done!
@metapredict@mmamas1973 You are assuming market forces determine job availability. That is not the case.
It's a lot more complicated than you realise and probably a lot more complex than I realise too
@EuropeNotEU@DrHWazir You are basically repeating yourself.
Yes when and if this country has negative inflation, then everyone's pay should go down.
You realise the last time was a fleeting moment in April 2015 and then prior to that 1960.
But sure, why not
@deanh1976@DrHWazir Because 2008 was the last time doctors were paid fairly.
So it is reasonable that they want an equivalent "fair" matched (adjusted) to 2008.
This is a fair aspiration whether they qualified as fully trained doctors in 2008, 2009 or 2025
@deanh1976@DrHWazir And yet their wages are bellow that of doctor's assistants, even though they are fully qualified doctors.
It's not greed to ask for fair pay
@lVlr_F__GaMeZ@DrHWazir They have had more of a real time pay cut than the rest of the UK since 2008.
I don't think it's greedy for qualified doctors to be asked to be paid more than their assistants.
@deanh1976@DrHWazir Sarah, you aren't that naive. Patients are dying every day due to this and the last government's lack of action in resourcing the NHS properly.
They didn't even reduce routine planned care during the strike to ensure there were adequate consultants to deal with emergencies
@EuropeNotEU@DrHWazir By your logic...
Pay cuts would only happen if the inflation rate was negative.
Whereas if inflation falls but is still positive, then the amount of pay rise would be less... but it would still be a positive pay rise.
Perhaps mathematical arguments aren't your forte?
@DrHWazir@joannewillkins3@wesstreeting I think Joanne is suggesting that you should have been a union rep for doctors whilst you were still in school.
Personally I think you should have spoken up whilst you were in nappies.
@bananatransit@KrishPat3l@BMAResidents They aren't politicians to determine where the money comes from.
But if the public want to be treated by fully qualified professional doctors, then doctors need to be paid fairly.
