Type 1 Diabetes used to be called juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. Although type 1 diabetes usually appears during childhood or adolescence, it can develop in adults.
Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. The body still breaks down the carbohydrate from food and drink, however when the sugar enters the blood, there’s no insulin to allow it into cells.
