1/3: This is the “wheelchair” provided at Chennai International Airport for transferring disabled passengers from an aisle chair.
No detachable armrest. The passenger has to be lifted HIGH over the armrest just to get into it.
How is this safe, accessible or dignified?

3/3:Two accessibility failures: an unsuitable transfer chair + insufficient aisle chairs.Disabled passengers shouldn't bear the physical risk, discomfort and indignity caused by an airport's equipment shortage.Accessibility means having the right equipment, when it’s needed.
2/3:And why was I being asked to transfer into it?Because they were running out of aisle chairs during peak arrivals.
Instead of allowing me to remain in the aisle chair until the exit, I was expected to undergo ANOTHER physically demanding transfer.
Why should I be lifted twice?
A wheelchair ramp. With speed bumps.
Phoenix Marketcity, Velachery — why? I use a wheelchair and nearly tripped on these raised strips.
Anti-slip doesn’t mean anti-wheelchair. This needs fixing. Disabled people deserve safety, independence & dignity. @pmcchennai@chennaicorp
Aftr being a loyal customer to @airtelindia for so long, just realised they no more cater to the disabled. Been rejected rudely for a simple shift from postpaid to prepaid, aftr repeatedly informing that I am a WC user & was asked 2 visit the store. Kudos 2 your customer care 👍
@airtelindia@airtelnews@MSJEGOI@AshwiniVaishnaw@Airtel_Presence Such things like this hit us hard. So a person with a disability is not considered to stay connected to the outside world. The society keeps reminding the disabled on where as humans we stand in the society and the support that is given. @DisabilityIN @DisabilityIndia
@airtelindia An irrational regressive non-inclusive organisation. I am a customer with locomotor disability and cannot travel on my own. My SIM stopped working and was advised for replacement. I was asked to visit a nearby store for KYC which I can't due to my condition.
