I wonder how the built environment impacts us in ways that are both explicit and not immediately fathomable. A city can be most efficient in generating economic value. But how well is it designed in making people feel less anxious, more connected, and alive?
The buildings and climate global forum in Paris has emphasised zero emissions and efficient and resilient buildings. Anecdotally speaking, well articulated focus on sustainability from institutional investors will be crucial to achieve this.
In absence of strong institutional demand, IMs are limiting their efforts to incremental improvements to their portfolios that maintain the status quo on the operational side.
Another layer is how we treat ourselves. Listening to ourselves to keep the thoughts and actions aligned helps keep us fully tuned in and unfettered in life.
I reckon that, in an intimate relationship, the feeling of truly being with someone is at its peak when you have the full capacity to be with yourself in their presence. Any curtailment in that capacity and you can feel acutely alone.
It is crazy. Seen hundreds of residential buildings. Most suffer from the issue poor thermal insulation and air leakage. In fact, the air leakage regulation is ridiculously weak.
Re: 🇯🇵 lack of insulation
Windows are by far where most heat loss occurs
In 🇯🇵 the window industry was dominated for decades by aluminum makers so up until very recently, they did something hilarious: double-pane windows that used one of the most conductive materials known to man
@KiranKS Comparing apples to oranges. Still, doesn’t take away from the fact that the Delhi government needs to stop making excuses and get its act together.
