SIO of India’s national leadership, along with its cadre, gathered at Jantar Mantar in solidarity with the Parliament March called to protest the Union government’s policies and actions in the education sector.
It is deeply shameful that the Delhi Police resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas to disperse peacefully protesting students. Several students were injured in the police action, while many others were arbitrarily detained.
We strongly condemn this blatant display of state high-handedness. At a time when Parliament is in session, the entire nation is witnessing how this government is responding to the legitimate democratic demands of thousands of students - with force, intimidation, and repression instead of dialogue and accountability.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with every student who has taken to the streets in defence of education. We demand the immediate release of all detained students, accountability for the police violence, and a sincere engagement with the concerns raised by the students.

SIO National President Abdul Hafeez met the protesting students at Jantar Mantar and expressed solidarity with their democratic struggle. We strongly condemn the shameful act of the Delhi Police forcibly dragging away Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site. Such high-handed action against a peaceful protest reflects a deeply disturbing insensitivity towards citizens exercising their constitutional right to dissent.
We stand firmly with Sonam Wangchuk and all the protesting students, and reiterate that peaceful voices demanding justice must be heard, not silenced through coercion.
