You just made the playoffs (and the second round, at that) and a serviceable 1C literally just requested a trade.
If Daniel can't make THAT work, closing is truly beyond him.
Larkin's microstats suggest he might finally be aging out of attempting to be Sidney Crosby and carrying a line on his own.
But with some creativity on his wings, you could get his best years from him.
Larkin is probably older than we would prefer, and maybe not the true do-it-all 1C people want, but with the wingers the Flyers have I think he would be a GREAT fit. Same age group as Sanheim and Konecny. I'd be really surprised if Danny wasn't all over this.
Dylan Larkin is coming off a bit of a down-year by his standards in our data this season. But even with that, he remains a super fast 1C who can play tough minutes, contribute on the PP, and come up big in the clutch.
What kind of package is Detroit looking for in return?
@SuitableAlias Agree here. But it’s McTavish. The talent is there. His shot is elite. Vision is great. He put up 41 points over the last 45 games of 2025. I really believe the missed camp under a new coach and a whole new style of play hurt him. Behind the 8 ball from the start as was Zegras
Selection bias among NHL teams is a hell of a drug.
Everyone goes chasing 6'4" D-men and so the best teams often have a lot of 6'4" D-men because they were part of the aforementioned "everyone"
Just gonna point this out. 13/15 D who have played a game these playoffs for the #StanleyCup finalists are 6'1 or taller. The 2 guys who aren't (Gostisbehere, Walker) are both 5'11, two of the more elite puck movers/transition D in the league and both are insanely mobile/shifty. The formula isn't complicated, but keep bashing your heads against the wall demanding that small skill D are about to revolutionize the game. The ones who make it are insanely talented and will continue to remain the exception rather than the rule. #NHLDraft
@AidanSoska2@Goosiusdagreat@TheLibertyYell Basically mandatory that you put Beniers with Michkov.
Truly don't understand what you think you're doing with Beniers if you aren't playing him with your best OZ player lol

MacTavish has more skill than he gets credit for, but if you want him as a center, the skating concerns me.
For all that we've talked about Michkov's skating, MacTavish makes him look like Pavel Bure.
@AidanSoska2@Goosiusdagreat@TheLibertyYell Sounds good to me!
If Martone is comfortable on the left side, I'd try to load them two up because Matty can carry the transition load. Especially receiving passes from the two wingers.
And then you have your two best OZ players to help Beniers where he's been weakest.
@letmebefrankbro They did get rid of a lot of guys over that time, so there's a decent case to be made that they did "rebuild"
But did so poorly and without any level of patience.
There's a strong case to be made that the Flyers did rebuild.
But rather than allow the players to decide when they'd come out, they decided to come out as soon as they did it and extend everyone possible after the initial wave of departures.
Which is just impatient.
@Goosiusdagreat@TheLibertyYell I would. Foerster is probably close to his ceiling. Beniers is younger, plays center, and has a more obvious path to reach another level
