I have spoken many times about service and standing up for residents in our community while I served as a Kelowna City Councilor and as the Member of Parliament for Kelowna-Lake Country.

Due to a rapidly evolving political landscape in BC, and after hearing from hundreds of people in our community who have reached out to me, I have put forth my intention to the Conservative Party of British Columbia to seek to become their candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream.

This snap provincial election overlapping the municipal election is a callous move by Premier Eby and the NDP. It is disrespectful to all the people running municipally and all their volunteers.

That being said, we have an opportunity to finally get rid of this NDP government whose record includes drug decriminalization, focusing on “safe supply” instead of treatment and recovery, childcare closures, hospital department closures, high local unemployment, proposals to increase PST, short-term rental rules that hurt local tourism, genuine property rights concerns and record-breaking provincial deficits - during a time of US tariffs, retaliations and trade uncertainty.

It will be an honour to earn the trust of our residents so I can be a strong voice again for our community standing up for what is important to them.

As I close this chapter and my time as your Member of Parliament comes to an end, there is only one place to begin: thank you.

To the people of Brantford, Brant, and every community I have had the privilege to represent over the past five years—thank you for putting your trust in me. When you first sent me to Ottawa in 2021, you gave me an opportunity and a responsibility that I have never taken lightly. You trusted me to be your voice in our nation’s capital, to fight for our community, and to stand up for the people who call this place home.

Serving as your Member of Parliament has been one of the greatest honours and most rewarding experiences of my life.

I came to Parliament after a career in our justice system with a clear belief that government has a fundamental responsibility to keep Canadians safe, stand with victims and their families, uphold the rule of law, and ensure serious crimes face serious consequences.

I fought for stronger bail laws, tougher consequences for repeat and violent offenders, greater accountability in our justice system, and a louder voice for victims and their families. I pushed governments to answer difficult questions, challenged decisions that deserved greater scrutiny, and worked to expose failures, ethical concerns and scandals Canadians had every right to know about.

But the work was always about more than Parliament.

It was about families struggling with the cost of groceries, housing and everyday life; small businesses fighting to keep their doors open; seniors who built our communities; workers who deserve opportunity and respect for the money they earn; and young Canadians who deserve to believe that hard work can still build a better future.

None of this could ever have happened alone.

To every volunteer who knocked on a door, made a phone call, installed a lawn sign, stuffed an envelope, drove across the riding, worked an event, brought coffee, stood in the rain, snow or summer heat, or convinced a neighbour to give our team a chance: thank you.

To my Conservative colleagues, past and present, thank you for your friendship, advice, encouragement and the battles we fought together.

To Pierre, thank you for your leadership, for the confidence you placed in me, and for giving me the opportunity to serve as Shadow Minister for Justice and Attorney General. It was a tremendous responsibility and one I was honoured to take on.

To every member of my staff—in Brantford and Ottawa, past and present—I owe more gratitude than I could fit into one post.

Much of the work Canadians see from an MP is only possible because of the extraordinary people they never see behind the scenes. I was fortunate to have some of the very best.

And to my family: thank you most of all. Public life asks something not only of the person whose name appears on the ballot, but of their entire family.

Finally, to everyone who ever stopped me at a grocery store, wrote to my office, called with a concern, challenged me on an issue, came to a town hall, shook my hand at a community event, invited me into your business or organization, or simply told me what was happening in your life—thank you.

Those conversations were the job.

Politics can sometimes make Ottawa feel like the centre of everything. It isn’t. The reason Parliament matters is because of the people and communities it exists to serve.

For me, that has always meant home.

In 2021, you trusted a local Crown prosecutor to leave the courtroom and carry your voice to the House of Commons. I hope that, whether you agreed with me on every issue or not, I showed you every day how seriously I took that responsibility.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the trust you placed in me, the memories we made together, and the extraordinary privilege of allowing me to represent you in the Parliament of Canada.

It has been the honour of a lifetime.

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, we remember and mourn the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including 24 Canadians.

We remember the communities across Canada that opened their homes to thousands of passengers aboard diverted flights.

We remember the more than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members who served in Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.

25 years later, we honour the victims, the families they left behind, and all those who answered the call in the days and years that followed.

We will never forget.

September 10, 2025, changed America’s history forever.

One year ago, our founder, our leader, and our friend, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while doing what he had devoted his life to: standing before young Americans and challenging them to think, to speak, and to have the courage to stand for what they believe.

There are no words that can adequately describe what this past year has been like.

We have had to learn how to carry on without the person who was at the center of everything we do. We have celebrated milestones that Charlie should have been here to celebrate. We have stood on stages where his voice should have been heard. We have watched his children grow without their father there to see it. And we have felt the weight of his absence in ways that never seem to get easier.

For the people who knew and loved Charlie, September 10 will never simply be an anniversary. It is the day our lives were changed forever.

Today, our hearts are especially with Erika, Charlie’s children, the Kirk family, and the countless people who loved him. No organization, movement, or mission can replace what was taken from them. We will never forget the unimaginable loss they continue to carry.

But we also remember Charlie for how he lived.

Charlie’s faith was at the center of who he was. He believed deeply in God and trusted that his life was guided by a meaningful purpose. Charlie’s faith in Christ was his armor, which no assassin could overcome. He believed in life everlasting, and it was this unshakable faith that gave him a courage that was impossible to miss. He was willing to walk into difficult rooms, have uncomfortable conversations, and stand firmly for what he believed because he wanted others to know the hope and truth he had in Jesus. Charlie died a martyr for Christ.

Charlie believed America was worth fighting for, that young people could change the course of a nation, and that speech would only remain free if exercised. Always leading by example, he was fearless in the pursuit of truth—no matter the cost. No one taught this generation how to fight the good fight better than Charlie Kirk.

Turning Point shares those beliefs and will never abandon them. Charlie never gave up, and neither will we. Turning Point will continue to grow and meet milestones that Charlie dreamed of.

Today, we are not focused on the chapter numbers, the headlines, or the accomplishments. Today, we remember an incredible patriot, a husband, a father, and a man whose faith gave him the courage to spend his life serving a purpose he believed was bigger than himself.

We miss him.
We grieve him.
And we will never forget him.

One year later, Turning Point remains committed to carrying forward the work Charlie began.
