The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office issued a warrant for the arrest of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speeding, @nwagoner confirmed.

This is classic nonsensical ranting that an outcome should've been achieved regardless of possibility. Who was available at 11 that had the most sacks? James Pearce, Jr. Finished with 10.5 sacks.
Is the argument really that they messed up by not picking a player who may never play football again?
The 2nd most sacks was Jalon Walker - at 5.5.......
Who is this supposed "pro bowl" caliber edge that they should've taken?
Naming ANYONE is no better than Mykel because it's still based off projection only, not actual pro bowl receipts.
"That's why drafting matters. If the Niners had gotten a legit Pro Bowl pass rusher with the 11th pick last year, maybe they could have traded for Myles Garrett but they didn't and the Rams did,"
@GrantCohn on the Rams acquisition of Mylses Garrett (@MorningRoast957)
The 2022 49ers wereincredible. The last 8 games, after Brock took over on offense - the defense forced 20 turnovers and registered 14 sacks - with Nick Bosa getting 7, Christian McCaffrey was averaging ~110 yards and 1 TD per game.
They still got blown out in the NFCCG when injuries hit the QB position. People acting like the season is a foregone conclusion - we're 9 months from knowing who will be in the SB.
De'Zhaun Stribling showcases elite separation and reliable hands, effortlessly ghosting defenders on a slant route. His explosive ability to gain yardage and secure the catch is a game-changer, flipping the field with a single play. #49ers#NFL
Your 5th year option price tag is way off. He'll be north of 30m for his 5th-year.
Then, LA's cap will balloon. Their CB acquisitions, both are low cap figures now, then balloon to 55m+ combined for each of the next 3 years.
They also still have to sign Puka, who doesn't have flexibility to lower his cap or even keep it low. It'll have to climb a massive amount the next 2 years. Im not saying theyre headed for cap hell or anything, but it's not like his upcoming contract didnt play a part
Their cap space seems good on the surface, but it's not as good as it seems and it all is resting on Ty Simpson and Stafford staying healthy.
Interesting. This amounts to 9 more pressures per season for the Rams.
Garrett is a phenom. Verse is a young player who was going to want 51+ per year.
Not necessarily. More negative plays happen from pressures - not sacks. Offensive holding penalties and interceptions happen more from pressures.
Offensive holding penalties have a slightly higher rate of offensive failure to score rate than sacks. Interceptions are obviously the bigger drive killer.
For a more detailed breakdown:
If a team has double the rate of average pressures - it would be devastating for the opposing defense. NFL EPA on plays with pressure drops from +.23 to -.07.
If a defense experiences 30% above average pressure rate - there's going to be a negative EPA on half of all passing plays - which would create an overwhelmingly suffocating defense.
If a defense experiences 100% increase in sack rate to league average, there would still be 85% of passing plays achieving success.
While sacks alone can be devastating, they're not as statistically devastating as an offensive hold or interception and are a bit better than an incompletion or scramble for a short gain - but combined, the pressure rate produces more consistent and suffocating defensive outcomes than even a record breaking sack rate.
The 49ers beat the Rams with backup last year. Yes, Myles Garrett is a HOF’er still at the top of his game but let’s not act like the gap between the two is a chasm.
It’s 11 vs. 11, not 1 vs. 1
Oh man. As a kid who grew up with the Drexler/Porter/Robinson/Kersey/Duckworth era Trailblazers - Rick Adelman was my basketball version of George Seifert.
Rick Adelman left an indelible mark on the NBA during his nearly four decades in the league, both as a player for seven seasons and as a coach for 29 seasons, including two seasons with the Warriors (1995-97).
His creativity and ingenuity led his teams to 1,042 wins during his illustrious coaching career, the 10th-most in NBA history, and earned him entry into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and the hundreds of lives he impacted, both on and off the court, throughout a legendary career.
The Kansas City Chiefs were the Super Bowl favorites at this time last year (May 2025), holding consensus odds of roughly \(+550\) to \(+600\) to win the championship. The Rams look amazing, but a lot can happen. The people who say that the #49ers’ SB chances are completely dead simply because of today’s move, may be being slightly melodramatic.
If the Browns wanted a top-tier young pass rusher in the trade, the Niners simply couldn't get that done. I'm a big Mykel Williams guy, but he's not Jared Verse.
The 49ers could really just hold onto this guy as long as he decides to not show up. Aiyuk’s best course of action is honestly showing up to the facility so they can’t do this and so he can make things uncomfortable for everyone else. Him staying away is good for the 49ers now.
If he does that, he'll get fined. TC would be over 1m. If he pushes, I wouldn't be surprised if the 9ers then sue to get his signing bonus back. He was the one who walked away and stopped returning calls. At this point, they will force the issue to make sure they either get a draft pick back, or have his cap erased with a DNR
They don't even need to release him in August. The way the Did Not Report list works, if he doesnt show up to the 49ers HQ, they can place him on the DNR and ALL his 2026 cap hit is erased. Including pro-rated bonuses, and there's no acceleration of his dead cap(13.7m)
They can do this each year of his remaining contract, 2027, 2028, 2029 and would receive all the pro-rated bonus back. Until Aiyuk shows up, the 49ers have a massive incentive to not pursue anything with him. It could clear all their owed cap on him.
Jeremy Fowler on the Brandon Aiyuk situation:
“I have talked to two rival executives who believe Brandon Aiyuk is un-tradable. That it’s just going to be hard to move on because of the knee issues. Plus he’s kind of ghosted the 49ers at times and then you have the contract.”
Keep him until the very end of August
