I build web & mobile apps with Rails, React, React Native and Python. 6+ years shipping for real users, remote from Pakistan. Got an idea? I might build it π οΈ
Heads up for React Native folks π±
A check of 628 open-source RN and Expo apps found 93% still aren't on Apple's scene life cycle. Built with Xcode 27, those apps just won't launch.
App Store deadline is April 2027. Starting that migration now, or waiting?
@ManiarViral Felt this hard. Building is the easy afternoon. Getting even 5 people to try it is the real week. Have you found anything that gets CISOs past the trust wall faster than demos?
@askwhykartik@AlgroHack Shipping through the competitor panic is the hard part. $1k MRR in a day means you hit a real itch. What made people pay so fast, a missing feature, or clearer messaging?
@attacomsian The mute-an-app feature is clever. I'm building something similar for noisy group chats during work hours. Do people mostly mute Chrome, or do Slack and Electron apps get muted more?
Idea check, take 2 π οΈ
Two of you told me the real App Store pain isn't the forms. It's the rejection.
So: paste Apple's rejection message, get the guideline it likely hits and exactly what to change before you resubmit.
Would you use it? Would you pay $5 per rejection?
@simantarsarma Fixing a prod bug from the roadside is peak React Native life. Was it a JS bug you could push an OTA update for, or did it need a full store build?
@kumardotexe Agree. I'd rather ship a plain Rails controller I can debug at 2am than a clever abstraction. What's the first thing you clean up once real users show up?
@davidtranwd Not dead, just more crowded. The people still making money seem to pick boring niches and talk to users a lot. What are you shipping right now?
@kelvinbuildss Yes, just slower. Replying in the same few circles every day seems to compound more than one viral hit. What's moved your numbers more so far, posting or replying?
A new AI video model, Vivix W1, costs $0.003 per second of video at its launch price. That's about $11 for a full hour. π¬
At that price, video can react to you live, like a game scene that changes as you play.
What would you build with near-free AI video?
@Prsnt50@claudeai@AnthropicAI $474 on Claude as a solo builder hits hard. Have you tried routing cheap tasks to a smaller model and saving Claude for the hard parts?
@Yourtechguy_001 Nice day 117. Auto-creating tables on startup is fine early, but I usually switch to real migrations before anything hits prod. How are you hashing passwords on /auth/register?
@TianQiu9390 Step 6 is the whole game. Hardest part for me is getting the first 10 real users to care, not the launch post. What finally moved the needle for you after launch?
Auto-mute app, Monday update π οΈ
Keyword filters won't cut it. As @JackSiteConcept pointed out, real work messages often have zero keywords in them.
So it'll learn who your work contacts are instead.
Would you rather pick them yourself, or let the app figure it out?
@atharvaadhumal Learned this the hard way after an OTA with a new native module. Do you set runtimeVersion to the Expo SDK version, or a custom string per native build?
@SEGVeenstra Same. I keep pushing cookie walls and privacy settings to "later", then they eat a whole afternoon. Did Claude catch anything you'd actually have missed?
@kimindiehacker Working whichever one pinged a payment that day is such a clean filter. Has MathPal been winning most days this month, or does it rotate week to week?
@BratDotAI That download vs revenue gap is so real. Downloads feel great, bank account less so. Which of your apps is closest to making the numbers match the joy?
Idea check π οΈ
Tell an AI assistant to "forget that" and you just have to trust it did.
I'm thinking of building one that shows everything it remembers about you as a simple list. Delete a line and it's gone for good.
Would you use it? Would you pay $4/mo?
