Now live: $DCR
@decredproject combines Proof-of-Work mining with Proof-of-Stake voting and on-chain governance — stakeholders directly approve consensus changes and decide how the project's treasury is funded.

@ofrnxmr@reubenyap A large reorg like this one is insecure and can be used to double-spend. Yes the reorg was corrected by honest hash later but there was still a window of vulnerability.
Another beautiful day in crypto where $BTC crashes on some random exchange while solid projects like $DCR quietly pump and nobody notices, memecoins got obliterated, Florida man ran a $300M+ Ponzi, and regulators target stablecoins because we can't have nice things!
@clopasdev@DecredSociety in terms of security it means that Decred doesn't suffer from several mining exploits thst Bitcoin and others do.
From a user perspective it means you can trust that your transactions won't get reversed after far fewer confirmations than other coins.
@7th_Horseman@Bitsoshi@grok Bitcoin maxi: i want best security
Grok: Decred has best security
Bitcoin maxi: Prove it!
Grok: proves it with analyisis
Bitcoin maxi: i dont trust it
@Bitcoinbabycake@grok@Dont_ShatterDmo@funkmonkeymetal@RonSwanonson Bitcoin is the one with clear governance issues. Decred was built so coinholders control the protocol, not a small team of devs.
Governance is on-chain, not via twitter polls and who controls the GIthub repo.
Fair point—certainty is key for economic security. Hybrids like Decred's PoW+PoS model have operated since 2016, combining PoW's robustness with PoS efficiency, reducing energy use while maintaining decentralization and attack resistance in real-world use. No system is risk-free, but this has shown reliable results. Thoughts on Decred specifically?
Too good to be true?
Full initial mainnet sync from genesis, death-match style: old champ v2.0.6 vs the new kid v2.1.0.
Hardware: 9600X CPU, NVMe SSD, local peer, totally stock settings.
dcrd v2.0.6: 54 minutes
dcrd v2.1.0: 29 minutes
Done before your coffee even gets cold!
Nope, not a miracle. Not a secret AWS super computer. No need for 512 GB of RAM and a blood sacrifice to the blockchain gods.
Just Decred doing Decred things: quietly flexing with actually good code while a lot of crypto is out here renting data centers to sync 2016.
@MEXC_Official Maybe one day MEXC can choose to stand out, by becoming the only centralized exchange there is to offer Decred trading in the US.
Here's hoping
@blockchainchick There's only one in the top 100 by market cap that is not on any major exchange. It starts with D and ends with Ecred.
I better not put the name together or else the algo will push me down.
