CEC Gyanesh Kumar must resign — and he must resign NOW.
There can be no more evasion, denial or excuses.
The Indian Express #ExpressInvestigation has revealed that, over the past 10 months, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi recorded at least 14 written objections to decisions concerning voter additions and deletions, changes to Form-6 and the centralisation of the electoral database. In some instances, they described the actions as “unauthorised” and “illegal.”
These are not routine administrative differences.
They go to the heart of the constitutional right of crores of Indians to vote and the independence, credibility and integrity of our electoral democracy.
Shri @RahulGandhi Ji had warned the nation months ago about “Vote Chori”, voter deletions, voter additions and the centralisation of the voter database. His questions were dismissed.
Today, serious objections on precisely these issues have reportedly emerged from within the Election Commission itself.
The nation demands answers :
Who authorised these decisions ?
Under whose authority was the electoral database centralised ?
Why were repeated written objections raised by two Election Commissioners ?
Who will be held accountable for any violation of law or Constitutional safeguards ?
And the most fundamental question :
How can Gyanesh Kumar continue as Chief Election Commissioner when such grave questions have been raised about decisions taken during his tenure ?
He must resign immediately.
The CEC cannot continue to occupy the Constitutional office entrusted with protecting the integrity of India’s electoral process while the credibility of that very process is under such serious scrutiny.
His resignation must be followed by an independent, impartial investigation under judicial oversight into the decisions taken during his tenure.
If that investigation establishes violations of law, Constitutional obligations or interference with the electoral process, those responsible must face prosecution in accordance with law.
The Election Commission of India is not an instrument of any government or ruling party.
It is a Constitutional institution — accountable to the Constitution and every voter of India.
No CEC is above Constitutional accountability.
No government is above the Constitution.
No authority can be allowed to compromise the voter’s right.
CEC Gyanesh Kumar must resign.
SIR must be independently investigated.
The truth about Vote Chori must come out.
The independence and credibility of the ECI must be restored.
Governments come and go.
But the voter’s right and the Constitution are permanent.
