US does take its "cut" but it is not that it takes all the revenue. Same with Greenland. Big win for US is to keep China out.

@rj_agno3 @sanjeevsanyal Not easy being kind. In the West vegans don't drink milk. Why? Because cows in dairy farms are killed for meat when they no longer give enough milk. In India, farmers sell old cows who are then killed by others. So, take care of cows when they grow old or stop drinking milk.

@rajenderpathan4 I live in the US and have got used to not littering. I remember getting into a taxi in India and after eating some snack, I put the empty packet into my pocket. The driver noticed and asked me if I live abroad. He said that a local would have simply thrown the empty packet out.

@rajenderpathan4 I think that if a place is very clean, people feel very guilty about littering. Gradually, it becomes a habit.
But if it is already dirty, people get desensitized and make it dirtier without thinking much about it. Gradually, that too becomes a habit.

@ThePrintIndia @AKanisetti India is a poor country. There are always people who didn't get admission to college, or a job, or a quota. If even 1% of population can be emotionally manipulated by media or politicians, that is 1.5 crore people. One can always bring India to a standstill.

@ThePrintIndia You call the agitation a "wider movement for education reforms", but I don't see any specific reform spelt out. The only demand is that the minister should resign. The media should have some experts propose some way to curb NEET like leaks. Then agitate for those proposals.

@ThePrintIndia @Bidishabh Why does the govt allow so much outflow of foreign exchange for study abroad? The only reason that makes sense is that it thinks that it will more than recoup that loss from remittances later. This brain drain vs remittances trade off doesn't look like a good policy.

@BBCWorld Sonam Wangchuk is now a profressional agitator. He was on a hunger strike for a long time in Ladakh. I still have no idea what he was striking for. At least demand something like a college, some factories. But no, it is some vague demand which means why isn't he in power.

@ShekharGupta @soumya_pillai India should have a super elite Indian Scientist Service, where salaries and prestige are twice that of IAS. The best and the brightest would compete to enter that. Then India would export high tech weapons instead of importing them.

@ShekharGupta @soumya_pillai 1. India pays its scientists much less than IAS. The brighter ones then go abroad and sometimes become mundane software engineers.
2. Later, India pays billions to France and Israel to get high tech weapons from them. If only it spent those billions to pay more to the scientists.
