Lucifer and Gadreel aren't diferrent at all, they were literally the same.
Soulsless Sam was good in a couple of scenes only, apart from them it wasn't very different from demon blood Sam

Playing more character (badly) doesn't make you a good actor.
Jensen with less characters showed a much better range and better acting skills.
