@nabilajamal_ How about offering basic courtesy to an elderly woman of no less than 94 years of age by allowing her to sit while presenting her case? No concern for ordinary citizens (atleast elderly) and basic expectations of public service!

Delhi, despite being the national capital, often appears illogical in planning, irregular in functioning, irresponsible in governance, and disconnected from the dignity expected of a capital city—with little to showcase at the national and global level.

A Bengali woman carrying a British merchant on her back…
📸 This photo was taken in 1903, at the height of British colonialism in the Indian subcontinent. This isn't just a picture…
it's a slap in the face to all those who sing the praises of "Western civilization." This is the true face of colonialism, which they still try to beautify in history books.
It's slavery and the humiliation of human beings, the crushing of human dignity, simply because they don't belong to the white race! And then they ask you about terrorism…
The history of Western colonialism is full of massacres, slavery, plunder, and starvation… But they reduce terrorism to oppressed peoples struggling for their dignity! 🩸
The effects of what British colonialism did in India—the killing, starvation, plunder, and contempt for humanity—are still evident today. Millions
were killed, wealth was stolen, and generations were displaced… all under the banner of a false "enlightenment"!

A colonial officer prepares for travel in a palanquin carried by Indian bearers— 1860s. Palanquin bearers, predominantly from lower castes like the Kahar and Behera communities, were the backbone of travel in colonial India. Carrying covered litters (palkis), they transported Europeans and Indian elites across rugged terrains and mail along postal routes, symbolizing the era’s stark class and racial hierarchies.
The work was physically demanding, highly specialized, and often hereditary. Bearers used rhythmic pacing and specific synchronized chants or humming to ease the burden and communicate obstacles on the road.
During the early 19th century, the East India Company’s Postal Department controlled palanquin travel. A team (typically 8–10 bearers for alternate shifting) could be booked for long journeys, with stops rigidly managed by district officials.
By the mid-to-late 19th century, the expansion of railways, metalled roads, and horse-drawn carriages made human portage obsolete for long-distance European travel.
Early European travelers were both mesmerized by the smoothness of the ride and uncomfortable with the overt power dynamics of being carried by human labor. While fading from mainstream transport, the palanquin and its bearers retained ceremonial importance, later immortalized in cultural works like Sarojini Naidu's famous 1905 poem, Palanquin Bearers. #palanquinbearers #history

#Assam: Minister Bimal Borah has shared a fascinating glimpse of one of nature’s most effective camouflage experts, the Buff Tip Moth. When at rest, the moth closely resembles a broken piece of stick, making it almost impossible to spot in the wild. Found across Assam, the #Northeast, and many parts of India, the Buff Tip Moth is celebrated for its extraordinary ability to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
