Angel Arredondo did not rank in the BA Rangers Top 30 at the time of the trade. Sometimes when a trade happens, you check with sources to make sure you didn't miss something on a guy who should have ranked.
We've checked. This does not appear to be one of those times.
Angels have signed outfielder Cade Marlowe to a minor league deal and assigned him to AAA Salt Lake -- Marlowe, 29, got two cups of coffee with Seattle in 2023 and 2024 and had been hitting well with the A's Triple-A club this year

Angels No. 3 prospect, left-handed pitcher Johnny Slawinski, left his start in the Arizona Complex League today with right oblique tightness. He’s considered day-to-day.
Aight, I'll chill with it! Apologies.
Byrd's data looks ok. In a macro sense, I like stretching pretty much any pitcher draft who has been a reliever, granted a) they have the velocity to do it, b) you're confident there's a mix in there to attack both LHH and RHH effectively, and c) they have enough strikes.
You can venture into force production / kinematics stuff too in regards to how their body will hold up, but that's probably a bit deep for public analysis, and I'll admit I'm not an expert in that sutff, but it has to be considered.
Jordan was 94-95 at Georgia, with pretty stock release traits (6' rel with a little over 6' ext), four-seam shape was 18/10, slightly above-average arm angle. Probably his best pitch. Seems like a "behind the ball" type arm, aka, more in the pronator area, which is why the sweeper and cutter he was throwing were more meh. Neither of those shapes for me right now are going to hold up in pro ball. Maybe he can get away with the sweeper, but the short slider that I see a few of is poor.
In regards to Byrd with my a/b/c template, a) velo - wish there was more to confidently project 94-95 as SP b) I don't like the spin feel, so probably going to struggle vs RHH a little, and c) super positive command, so checks this box for sure.
You're looking at a fastball-first command RHP with stock release. Success is going to hinge on secondaries, which I worry a little about given poor spin feel / what appears to be the inability to hold velo on breakers. The fact he's zoning the split is encouraging, but gonna need more than that.
