Josh Acheampong just started back-to-back games for Chelsea and bossed all of them and is looking to make the position his. He is just 20.

He has been in the first team for 3 seasons or more now waiting and fighting for his spot. Playing, making mistakes and going back to the bench for a long time. No complaints; he even signed a new contract while still on the bench.

He is a young and talented player who knew that it's not easy anywhere. He is a young player who understood that spots are earned not given. Last season he was playing behind about 5 Cb and 3 fullbacks but stayed to fight because he believed.

Today, he is becoming one of the first names on the team sheet.

Look at what other midfielders cost last summer:

Enzo Fernández — £125m (6 years left)
Morgan Rogers — £117m (5 years left)
Elliot Anderson — £116m (3 years left)
Sandro Tonali — around £100m (3 years left)

Scott is under contract until 2028 and is currently injured. Paying over £100m for him would make little sense when Chelsea have room to negotiate a lower fee.

Caicedo and Scott could be an excellent midfield partnership no doubt about that, but we must be smart with our money. Wanting a player doesn’t mean paying whatever the selling club demands.
