This morning I received this letter from Defra Minister Lord Gardiner, following our work at #BeesNeedsWeek. Well done to the wonderful team of bee researchers @biouea @UEAResearch
On my way to #BeesNeeds week in London https://t.co/WoDpzTiQfs. @biouea @UEAResearch experts in bee conservation (Mon, Thurs), crop pollination (Tues, Wed) and bumblebee evolution (Thurs, Fri) ready to answer your questions.
@RBGE_Science I'd like to use Peter Wilkie's tea bag method for my work on plant metabarcoding. Where do you get your folding tea bags and what are they made from? Do they need to be synthetic to avoid plant DNA contamination or are the plant based ones ok to use too? Thanks!
Brexit is not a done deal – it can still be stopped. Make sure you vote in #EUelections2019. Encourage Remainer friends and family to vote. 6m people signed the #Revoke Art50 petition. 1m marched in London. Send a strong message on 23rd May – we don’t want Brexit!

My first article in The Conversation - busting the myth that beekeeping is an effective tool for conserving wild bees 🐝 https://t.co/qGGe2jVgYs via @ConversationUK
@KatDownesEvents@UEAResearch@UEABeekeeping Bees actually breathe through their abdomen, so she's flexing like that cos she's essentially breathing deeper. I've seen it as stress response but it also sometimes happens when they've finished flying. Takes a lot of energy so maybe she's a bit out of breath!
