In doing so, the judge dismissed the expert testimony of a female doctor and expert on whether vaginal and breast exams were part of the norm during neurological exams (They are not)
We are still a long way from addressing sexism and gender bias in the court systems. This all will serve to further undermine reporting. Victims legitimately ask "what is the point"

When you’ve seen cases like Sara Sharif’s, or lived through similar experiences yourself, it feels unbearable that so much evidence can exist — police reports, social-service notes, messages, medical records — and still nothing happens.
📢Here’s the hard truth:
In theory, one clear sign of risk should be enough for professionals to act protectively.
The law says safeguarding decisions must be based on the “balance of probabilities”, not criminal-court standards of proof.
In practice, agencies often wait for certainty instead of acting on concern. They minimise abuse as “historical” or “parental conflict,” especially in family-court settings.
Many professionals still don’t understand coercive control — how it works slowly, without visible bruises, how victims are isolated, frightened into silence, or made to look “difficult.”
And when the victim is a foreign mother, struggling with language or culture, the evidence is too easily dismissed or misunderstood.
So the answer is:
There was already enough evidence — long before Sara died.💔
There is often enough evidence in many cases. What’s missing is belief, courage, and accountability.

What’s happening to Kilmar Abrego Garcia could happen to anyone. This is a constitutional crisis.
As a member of the Oversight Committee, I plan to join my colleagues in El Salvador to visit Mr. Garcia and make sure Trump’s war on our Constitution & due process stops here.
I welcome this decision by the @UKSupremeCourt holding that the term "man" "woman" and"sex" in the Equality Act of 2010 refers to biological sex. It represents the triumph of reason and facts based deliberations and the return of common sense.
Congratulations to @ForWomenScot and all their allies that have supported them in their quest to uphold the rights of women to equality and non-discrimination
The ruling is a recognition that the erasure of the ordinary meaning of sex in law and in policies has rendered it impossible to upholding the protection #women, including lesbians on the basis of the characteristic of sex.
Beyond the UK, I hope other jurisdictions are paying attention to this groundbreaking ruling.

Monstrous that the world has normalized this suffering and barbarism inflicted on Palestinian men, women, children in this manner - day in and day - out with no end in sight. The longer this goes on, the more we lose of our humanity.
The World is allowing Israel bring its genocidal project run its course to its intended natural conclusion.
When is enough really going to be enough?

Donald Trump — the twice impeached former president, Jan. 6 coup leader, convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and man who mismanaged the 2020 economic implosion and coronavirus disaster that killed more than 1 million people in this country — has convinced American voters to give him another term in the White House.

Update:
The authorities in Iran are now claiming that a young woman, who courageously removed her clothes in protest against harassment by the morality, police at her university, suffers from psychological illness and has been admitted to a mental health hospital.
This accusation of mental instability is a familiar tactic by the Islamic Republic.
In 2014, when I launched the My Stealthy Freedom campaign against compulsory hijab, the regime used similar lies against me, claiming I had a mental breakdown, undressed myself on the London subway and was raped by three men.
This is how they attempt to undermine those who resist their oppression.
One student who witnessed the entire incident says:
“On Saturday, November 2, we saw the university’s security and Basij forces trying to forcibly drag a female student into the security room, under the pretext of her not wearing a proper hijab. She resisted, and in the struggle, her hoodie was pulled off, leaving her with only her undergarments underneath. Shocked, the security officers let her go, after which, in a moment of rage, she removed her pants and threw them at the officers.”
This eyewitness account directly contradicts the regime’s narrative and shows the extent of brutality Iranian women face for the most basic acts of defiance.
This woman has been forcibly hospitalized under psychiatric supervision—marking the start of torture and, soon after, the cycle of forced confessions.
I believe her life is now in serious danger. I urge international media, human rights organizations, and the international community to support her before is too late.
Let’s be her voice.
@CAN_Femicide We had a similar case recently in Cyprus, which was named a "mercy killing". the CJS almost felt sorry for charging him. He was convicted for manslaughter and got released after the verdict. The case was viewed as a problem of not having a MAID legislation yet, and poor him.
ICYMI: These types of cases (above) are most often keep invisible from the public - no identities for victims or their killers provided.
Let's hope this one does not follow that same pattern.
