GBP/USD rose 0.57% to $1.271, its highest level since February 2, when markets were rocked by stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs data, which sent the greenback surging.
Sterling was last up 0.13% as the dollar regained some losses during the European afternoon.
Sterling rose against the dollar on Thursday, joining most other currencies as UK business activity survey data came in stronger than expected and showed strong growth at services companies.
