Through @sunfoundationIn, we have been working across major cities of Punjab, establishing World Skill Centres and Skill Development Centres that provide industry-relevant training and employment opportunities to thousands of youth. Alongside our de-addiction and rehabilitation initiatives, we are helping young people rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

The Skill Development Centre of Excellence, Faridkot, was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Governor of Punjab Shri Gulab Chand Kataria Ji, marking the beginning of a transformative initiative to empower youth through industry-relevant skill training.

The Centre will offer courses in Assistant Beauty Therapist, Fashion Designer, Warehouse Management, Digital Mitra, General Duty Assistant (Junior Nurse), and Customer Care Executive, equipping trainees with practical skills and pathways to sustainable employment.

As the doors open, a new chapter begins for the youth of Faridkot, helping them build successful careers and contribute meaningfully to Punjab’s growth and progress.

I had earlier raised the urgent need for the Zirakpur-Panchkula Bypass, a critical project for decongesting one of North India’s worst traffic bottlenecks.

The ₹1,983 crore project, part of the Tricity Ring Road funded by the centre has already received major clearances and approvals from the Enviornment & Forest , including defence land permission. Yet commuters continue to suffer daily due to repeated delays and administrative bottlenecks.

The Punjab Government and all concerned local authorities must now act swiftly to resolve pending issues and ensure that construction is expedited in mission mode. Every day of delay means massive traffic jams, fuel wastage, pollution and economic loss for lakhs of commuters travelling towards Chandigarh, Panchkula, Himachal and Punjab.

This bypass is not just an infrastructure project, it is an economic and strategic necessity for the entire region.

the 19.2-km six-lane bypass project is intended to ease severe congestion in Zirakpur and forms part of the larger ₹12,000-crore Tricity Ring Road network.

Amongst our many initiatives dedicated to women’s welfare, one landmark project that continues to create meaningful impact is the sanitary napkin manufacturing unit established inside Tihar Jail.

What started as a humble initiative has today evolved into a movement of change — empowering women inmates through skill development, livelihood opportunities and menstrual hygiene awareness.
Today sanitary napkins produced by women inmates are now reaching women through Anganwadi networks — ensuring health, hygiene and hope for those who need it the most.

Visited Multi Skill Development Centre, Ludhiana and interacted with the students and staff during my regular review visit.

Reaffirming my commitment to train 10,000 students completely free of cost and support their placements, I reviewed the progress of skill training programmes across technical and service sectors, including AI, Data Science, CNC Machining, Fashion Designing, Aviation, Hospitality, GST Assistant, Digital Mitra, Beauty & Wellness and more.

MSDC Ludhiana is one of the centres under this initiative, alongside World Class Skill Centres at Delhi, Amritsar, Patiala and Pahuwind, with an upcoming centre at Manmad, Nashik.

Addressing the Sangat at the Annual Kirtan Darbar at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib on the urgent need for a Drug Free World and the importance of Empowering our Youth with Skills for Jobs — breaking the vicious cycle where unemployment often leads to depression and vulnerability to substance abuse.

At Sun Foundation, we are committed to skilling and placing 10,000 youth annually. Last year alone, over 5,000 youth were successfully placed through certified training programs in courses such as CNC Turning, Electrician, General Duty Assistant, Sewing, Aviation, Hospitality & Tourism and Banking & Finance and such.

Simultaneously, through Sun Foundation’s Skilling for Rehabilitation patients - Free skill trainings at Govt. Rehab Centres in computers, cooking, mobile repair and football stitching to rebuild confidence and sustainable livelihoods after recovery.

On my birthday, I was humbled to hand over newly constructed and renovated homes to families affected by the Punjab floods, as we culminate our six-month-long relief and rehabilitation efforts across Chak Aul, Ramdass, Nangal Sohal, Punjgarien, Jattan and Dharamkot Pattan.

Deeply touched by the blessings of our farmer brothers and sisters.

I remain committed to stand by them and ensure rightful support and compensation. I sincerely hope timely preventive measures are taken by the Government so such calamities are avoided in future.

From Angels of Sun for children and Taare Zameen Par for specially abled
to INIFT and Surya Kiran for rural empowerment.

From our World Class Skill Centres in Delhi, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Pahuwind and Patiala,

to Nirmal Chaya for Tihar inmates and Krishna Kutir for elder women and skilling for drug de-addiction and rehabilitation patients in Punjab.

Guided by the cause of humanity — through medical aid during COVID, support during calamities like floods, and rescue missions from Afghanistan and Libya, alongside Mission Hope for Oman.

Each step carried a dream. Each effort touched a life.

Today, as we train 5,000 youth annually, our hearts remain set on a larger purpose — to skill and place 10,000 youth every year.
