#OTD in 1851, Mahatma #JyotiraoPhule & Savitribai Phule founded a girl school in Chiplunkar wada (Pune) in which 8 girls were admitted on first day. This was India’s 2nd formal girl school. The First one was also founded by the Phule couple in 1848.

Remembering the revolutionary social reformer Krantijyoti #SavitribaiPhule on her death anniversary. During a time when women were mere objects,she ignited a spark that led to equality in education. She fought against the totalitarianism of the caste system & social evils. Savitribai was a strong voice for gender equality.

#OnThisDay in 1947,Dr #BabaSahebAmbedkar submitted a report to the Advisory Committee on Fundamental Rights on State & Minorities. In this report #DrAmbedkar said that community farming would eliminate the distinction b/n landlord, clan & agri laborer.

Dr #BabasahebAmbedkar had an independent view on community farming and co-operative farming. This was his radical revolutionary proposal on agricultural development. This whole concept is a very important stage in the overall social & economic restructuring of independent India.The next important step in the development of agriculture is the deployment of useful labor, machinery & capital. #DrAmbedkar was of the opinion that agriculture needs trained workers & farming has to be done in a modern way, that is why he support mechanization of agriculture.

In particular, Dr #BabaSahebAmbedkar was of the clear view that unless a fixed capital investment was made in agriculture, there would be no lucrative income. That is why #DrAmbedkar demanded that agriculture sector be given the status of Industry. #DrAmbedkar said, "Agriculture sector needs investment in the same way that industry needs capital investment. Why the plight of farmers ? He was insistent on a holistic solution to the problems of agriculture.

Addressing the farmers, #DrAmbedkar said, 'Dear farmers, when your number is more than 80 per cent today, what is the point of having so few people in government jobs ? I want to see one of you become the Prime Minister. I don't want this handful of Shetji's rule. Dr #BabaSahebAmbedkar further said, "Only the farmers and agricultural laborers can understand the problems of the agriculture sector that's why we need a Govt of 80 Percent people then only the problems of agriculture will be solved.."
