👶 A rare zoonotic TB case: Mycobacterium bovis—a cattle TB bacterium—was found in a 4‑month‑old male patient diagnosed with axillary lymphadenitis in Odisha, India. Isolated and sequenced by team @bric_ils, the strain was found to be resistant to pyrazinamide. This case underlines why we need better detection and awareness of human‑animal TB links!

IMGSB group @ ILS organized a mini-symposium on Clinical/Targeted Exome Sequencing. Eminent scientists Dr. Sabarinathan (NCBS), Dr. Swarkar (CUJK), Dr. Nidhan Biswas (NIBMG), and Dr. Vinod Scaria (Karkinos) discussed how NGS could help in precision & personalised medicine.
@imgsb ILS Bhubaneswar is conducting a Hands-On Workshop on Clinical/Targeted Exome Sequencing. Day 1 began with a briefing by Dr. Sunil Raghav, followed by an expert lecture by Dr. Rahul Solanki (Agilent). This workshop equips clinicians/researchers with essential NGS skills.

BRIC-ILS team has isolated and characterized a novel probiotic bacterial strain, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ILSF15 from the gut samples of tribes of Odisha. Genomic studies discovered genes linked to probiotic features, survival traits, and host interactions. Importantly, it can adhere to intestinal cells, resist acid/bile, lower cholesterol & curb pathogens in vitro.
Making Waves at #OSICON25! @bric_ils showcased significant progress & effort in the Marine Microbiology & Biotechnology theme, achieving substantial results in just a few months under the MoES project!Dr. Punit Prasad captivated the audience with his talk, "Unlocking Microbial Community Diversity in Bay of Bengal Estuaries," unveiling transformative insights. Four posters presented by project scientists, highlighted @bric_ils's rapid advancements, sparking vibrant interactions & new collaborative discusssions. Incredible work by the ILS team in pushing boundaries & leading marine science innovation forward! #Trailblazers #MarineMicrobiology #InnovationInAction
